'07 S-Crew....Nav. Issues...Need Advice!
Hey guys.....KInda' a newbie around here, but I'd appreciate anyones knowledgeable advice or comments! I bought a new '07 Screw Cab Loaded with everything but Nav. I found a barely used Nav system "07" as well That I wanted to put in. I installed it into my truck..easy as cake. I know if it is not from the same exact vehicle, that you need to have it reprogrammed which seemed to be the case. I took it to the dealer today to get it programmed and was told they couldnt do it. As soon as the unit turns on...you see a ford emblem and then it just shuts off....anyone else have this happen? Hopefully I didnt buy junk and the dealer was wrong.
nothinbutaford....
I tried, but because Im new here I the rules ban me from sending PM's until I have been here like 90 days or something. Anyone else know how to contact him or could someone get him to see my post?
Thanks in advance!

The F-150's use a hard wire system, and the unit you have is configured for a ms-can bus system. The difference is that on a can bus system, all of the various commands are sent to all of your vehicle's components via the data bus. SO, the radio has power, but it does not know to turn on because the F-150 is sending it a "ign on" signal via a hard wire, but the radio is programmed to look for the "ign on" signal on the bus. This sounds goofy, but if all of the various modules are on the network, then the car only has to send out a single signal that the components either react to or ignore.
I had a similar issue on my 07 Focus when I installed a Nav system in that - (there is not even a factory option to put a nav system in it - uncharted ground!) The unit was only partially configured, so when I turned it on, it worked great, BUT the illumination never turned on and the speed control volume never worked. I had the unit programmed and badda bing, life was good.
Because your unit powers up, you are ok. You just need to send it to be programmed and you should be ok. If you want to feel better about it, you can even load CD's.
And this type of programming usually CANT be done by the dealer. They think they know it all, but in this case you have a good radio and an un-educated dealer.

Well if your correct ( which would be awesome!) Where/who do I send it to to get this done???? I have even talked to the local company here in LA that repairs units for ford and they have said that what u said is not the case.
Not all units work in all vehicles is what they told me. Anyone know where to check by part #'s or ????
