DNX7100 External Switch feature

Has anyone tried using the External Switch feature on the Kenwood DNX7100? It states that you have to use a "commerically available relay" not sure if that means I could just use a regular 12v relay like what's used to turn on Hella Aux lights? I was thinking of wiring up the external switch feature to turn my headrest monitors on/off ~ that way when my son's not riding in the back I could just turn them off without having to reach behind me.
Thanks

Thats a great idea and i would assume that a 12v relay is a 12v relay unless they say specific like a bosch 40 amp 12v

Just to close out this thread, I did install a standard 30A 12V automotive relay (that I got at Radioshack) to the relay1 wire out of the back of the DNX7100. On the setup menu I set the switch1 to "level" in terms of the output (vs. pulse which is the other option). I wired the switched +12V wire going to my headrest monitors into the relay. So now the headrest monitors are off unless I go into the DNX7100 hit the Ext Sw button and turn on the first switch. Works very cool ~ I can turn the headrest monitors on or off without having to reach around from the front of the cab.
