Magellan Integrated Nav - Updates???

Have there been any updates to the BrandMotion/Magellan Nav system? Is the current model still the RoadMate 760 equivalent? Anybody have a terrible experience with this thing?

Any updates will have to come from Magellan. That is who makes the navigation unit. I have the Roadmate 800 and I inquired about when they planned on releasing an update for it and they said June/July this year. They may also update the 760 around that time. Contact Magellan support and ask them about an update for the 760. They did not tell me what the price was but I got the distinct impression that it would not be free.

How do you do updates to it? Does it pop off easily? Does it tie into the sound system?

Thanks

The 800 and the 760 have USB to connect to the computer for file transfer. I don't know if Brandmotion kept the USB accessible when they modified the 760 to make their integrated GPS or not. If so, when Magellan offers an update for the 760 it should work on the Brandmotion units as well.

When I installed mine, I ran a USB cable from the unit to my glove box so it would be easy to update.

Me too! The USB connector is just waiting in the glovebox for some fresh data transfer.
