question for nothinbutaford

I was wanting to know if you can shut off the DSP on the nav deck in the 07 f-150. I installed a JL Cleansweep in and I need to shut off the DSP in the Deck so the CleanSweep can do its Job. Help

Cleansweep

The local audio shop installed mine. and they said they really can not tune it very good because of the factory DSP in the nav deck. they said it could not be turn off so we just set the deck in the defalt mode so all the mids and highs and bass are on zero. and they put the DSP in ALLSEATS MODE and said to leave it at that. when they tryed to really tune it, the bass over powers the highs when in other modes. ALLSEATS SOUNDS FINE but I wish they would of told me it might not work so well, also my wife does not like the fact we now have 3 volume controls. you have to keep your deck volume at 3/4 all the time and use the the master volume on the cleansweep to control volume. that would not be so bad but when you shut the truck off the volume goes down. so you are always having to adjust the volume on the deck.: I have mixed fealings about it. we also added a sub,new speekers, and a amp, to make the sound beter. The truck did not come with a factory sub so we also have a **** for the bass control too. The hole system is in JL Audio, this week we are taking it back in to have them tune on it some more. ALSO They say some cd's will sound great and some not, with the cleansweep I really dont understand that, I ahve notice that some song sound like crap and some great. I hope you really talk to your audio place before you have custom ***** in your dash. I would really like to hear if ANYBODY has any Thoughts on this.

I plan on adding the cleansweep and will likely run into the same issues that you did. From what I gathered from the manual, you dont have to use the master volume **** though, i believe that you can use the deck, depending on how much the head unit manipulates the signal with the volume. I went ahead and added the **** anyway as I'm an audiophile. Since I have the sub, I will need the signal summing unit to feed the cleansweep. I'm currently waiting on it and my stealthbox to go in with my JL XR/ZR combo. I installed the volume **** on the upper part of the lower console (right beside by leg) and its pretty hidden. That was my only concern though. I really dont want to to tap the signals behind the headunit as it would be nice to pull everything out if need be, but the male/female Ford harness that i ordered to make a clean tap didnt have all the wires needed to interface with the trucks main harness.

I called Mark (Nuthinbutaford) Yesterday afternoon. What a Nice Guy. I think we talked for a half hour about the Navigation radio and JL Cleansweep, etc. I'm gonna box up my units and have them reprogrammed for my truck. I'm going to send a copy of all my Cleansweep instructions/manuals so he can see if this setup is worth the aggravation. So far i'm with you guys about being disapointed with the sound from the cleansweep, and the seperate volume ****. I have not tried mine yet, but i don't like what i'm hearing so far. I bought my cleansweep on E-bay, so i might just sell it. Mark said there is another set up that can be used to acheive better sound quality. I think it was a Rockford eq setup.

I was wondering the same thing as you all, about how to improve the sound quality of the DSP settings on my NAV unit and did some basic research.

This link might be helpful to you for product feature options available.

CLeansweep

I also talked to mark, and from what he told me is having it on ALLSEATS mode is more than less what where it needs to be. I do agree if I would of known about the rockford unit i might have went that way. insted of the cleansweep. BUT The Truck sounds alot better than stock and I quess thats what I wanted. Im going to call JL and see If I can BY pass that Extra ****.
