Totally Clueless

I have an 05 Scab XLT with the 6-disk CD changer in the dash (non-Audiophile). I really want to upgrade my system with an in-dash navigation capability but still want the CD changer capability.

Can you all recommend a course of action? Components to research? Self-install vs. paying for someone to do it?

I was an electronics technician for many years, and have installed stereos before, but this is way over my head and I am clueless about what to look for...

Thanks in advance.

If you like the looks of the factory nav, which I am partial to, Mark or nuthinbutaford can hook you up with a factory piece that is programmed for your vehicle and you can still have the in-dash, 6 disk changer. There are pros and cons to every setup, but I chose to go with the factory setup. BTW, if you do the factory NAV, it's plug and play and literally a 20 minute install.

Take a look at the Pioneer Z1/Z2. It has Navigation with a harddrive, so instead of a CD player, you put in a CD it rips it and stored it by album, genre, or artist........it is like have a 500 cd changer!! The Nav is dead on and the cool factor is extremely high, along with the price....about $2,000. I installed it myself in an hour or so. Check out my pics.

OK, the factory NAV system is a plug and play, cool! That would work for me, just fine. Now, where do I get one? nuthinbutaford doesn't accept e-mails, and I don't have enough posts to send a PM...

The best way to get a hold of him is to call him and leave a message. Check some of the Posts in this section, his number is all over the place in here.
