Factory NAV - Subwoofer Question

First post! Just joined the F150 crowd with a new '07 SCREW. Love it so far! My truck came with the factory NAV haed unit, but did not come with the factory sub. I bought a factory sub from a guy that had one for sale locally and plugged everything in. Nothing. So, I called our local genius at the dealership and he told me that I would need to get the head unit "reprogrammed" so it would recognize the sub.

Anyone know where I can get this done?

Thanks for any feedback you can provide!

There is a few things you should know about this, 1 if you do not have the audiophile system and have a factory equiped nav it will be programmed with an eq curve to bost the highs and lows, adding a factory sub to this will cause the bass to overpower the highs. 2 that eq curve cannot be programmed out, therefore you may need to add tweeters to bring up the high end.

Thanks for the replies. My rig has a component system in the front doors and the standard 6x8 in the rear doors. All factory-installed. I'm assuming that if the truck had come with the sub from the factory, I would see a "subwoofer" setting on my head unit, which there is not one present. Makes no sense that with all of the wiring being connected, the head unit cannot send the signal to the sub without it being "reprogrammed".

Would you be willing to allow me to send you my HU for the reprogram? Everything I have read on the forum thus-far points to you being the expert!

On a side note - if you can reprogram it, can you also add the "DVD" tab so we may view DVD's?

Thanks again for the replies!

Sorry to hijack this thread, but it seems "Nothingbutford" knows what he's talking about. I just had this done to my truck and now I have an issue. I took this info from my other thread:

I recently added a factory subwoofer to my ’07 Lariat with factory navigation.
I simply plugged it into the wire that was already under the back seat. That did not give me any sound from the sub and I then learned that the navigation head unit had to be reprogrammed to recognize the sub.
I took the truck to the local “authorized” Ford audio shop and they charged me $150 to reprogram the head unit. I got the truck back and still no sound from the sub! The weird thing is that when you perform the speaker walk through test where it sends the sound to each speaker individually, the sub works fine and is quite loud.
So why in the heck does it not work when playing music normally?

The audio shop has no answer for me.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Exclamation Update

Not all factory navigation head units can be made to power the Audiophile subwoofer. The awesome guys at the audio shop swapped out my navigation / head unit with a brand new one and it works great now. I sat with them during the swap and we were all perplexed but they verified that the serial number on my unit did not match their reference for an audiophile unit.

Anyway, if anything, I hope this information cautions future folk from blindly buying a navigation / head unit without confirming that it is indeed an “audiophile” unit. I saw both units side by side and they are identical so there is no way to know.

Thanks.

I have a 07 without the “audiophile”. If I buy a nav from one that has the “audiophile”, will it work? Can the eq be programmed in?

Turning on the sub output is a programable feature regardless what serial number/model number you have on the radio. The non audiophile eq curve can be added to any nav radio but once installed it can not be deleted. You MUST have a programmer to do these functions.

Pioneer manufactures them. The stealership told me to find a local installer to reprogram my HU, and the local installer told me to go to the stealership to get it reprogrammed. I love it! How about a happy banana dance?
