I'll write one up if I can get it working with my RES. Mark is working hard on it and I'm sure we'll get it worked out.

The preliminary review.... x2

I love it.

What all are you looking for?

It will call out the turns, sounds funny sometimes but it works. Map is very clear, you can zoom out up to 5 miles up. It will tell you your current location as long as you are on a roadway that is on the map disc. If you pull into a drive way or store it will tell you that you are in an unkown location, but will still tell you the city. I think that is kinda funny, but not a big deal.

You can get to your quick POI interest (I think it is 4 only for Quick POI) while driving. More POI's are available while stopped. You can enter a business phone number and it will sometimes have the address. You can manually enter an address and it will map out the directions. You can tell it to avoid highways and toll ways if you want.

Basically does all the normal stuff your average NAV unit does.

The Sirius portion is neat, you can search by catagory, it also displays the title of the song and the artist at the same time.

FM radio will display RDS info

Gotta love the big Ford Logo that pops up at start up, very nice!

You can turn off the audio without turning off the complete system or NAV portion.

That is all I can think of at the moment. Here is the stuff that I don't like:

The annoying warning screen at start up that you have to hit the accept button before the NAV features will work. Everytime you turn the vehicle on you have to hit the accept button.

Even if you have the latest Navteq DVD, it is still a little dated on map info. Not the unit's fault though.

The fact that a bunch of Nav features are disable while you are moving, I know it is a safety feature but it is annoying.

The system does not play DVDs, and it does not have a reverse camera option. Hey if you want that get an aftermarket unit and loose the stock look (I can live without them).

Finger prints all on the screen, but hey, there is no way around that.

If you have any questions, let me know I will try and answer them.

I think something is in the works to possibly allow it to play dvd movies.Don't hold me to it but it's some kind of an adapter that wire in to the back of the unit.Do a google search you should find something. How about bluetooth built in or is it another add on?

Yeah I have read about some of those adapters, but have not heard anyone trying them. I figured I would wait until I read something here. As for bluetooth, it is an add on feature.

I bought a Ford unit off ebay and added it to my truck a few weeks ago. I think its a really nice system. I had one in an Acura a while ago, and my wife has one in her Lexus right now. Overall, I like Acura unit best (old ones with touchscreen), then Ford, then Lexus.

I have found the interface and logic of the Ford unit very logical and easy to operate without reading the manual. The touchscreen and radio operation is very nice, and works on both touchscreen and non-touchscreen buttons, which is nice.

I don't have satallite radio (cause I don't like it), so I can't comment on its operation.

Overall, I am very impressed with the system and happy with my purchase. It may not have some features like a backup camera, bluetooth, or DVD capability, but for a simple Nav system that looks great and is very easy to operate, its nice.

Found this video on you tube...clearly a factory ford navigation unit playing a movie.

I wish he had posted more information about the interface.
