Decent CD Player
Decent CD Player
Okay I'm getting pretty irritated with my CD player. I am on my third factory CD player (single disc, RDS feature). My original one just stopped working altogether, so I bought another factory one from a local salvage yard for $100. It was in good condition, but a month later it began skipping constantly. It was unbearable. It was so sensitive that it skipped when I hit the brake or even turned. So I bought a third factory one (my current one), and it worked flawlessly for about three months. Now it overheats after about 10 minutes and I can't listen to a CD until the next day because it is so hot and displays "CD Error." The CD and unit are extremely hot.
Anyway, I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction. I want another CD player and I need it to be a quality yet affordable one. Which is the best quality for lowest price? I want the nav screen one but I don't have $1000.
Also, will an in-dash 6CD changer from a pre-'04 King Ranch fit in my dashboard and can the same plugs be used? I would love to have one of those, but I'm not buying another one of the same kind.
Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: I just realized I put this in the wrong category. I meant to put it in "Head Units." I guess I clicked the wrong one. My apologies.

Haha! Mine started doing this today!
I had a 6 CD Changer in my Escape, and it ate CD's for a living... went through like 4 units, and never saw those CD's again. And no, they didn't have stickers, labels, odd shaped CDs (like 4cm discs, square discs, rectangular discs... etc). I then had one decent unit, but that one would get sooo hot it would freeze up.
So I got my F150, and it came with a stock single cd... had it for about 107 days now, and it is skipping... and the FM reception is horrible!!!!!
I've got my Pioneer DVD HU still sitting in it's box from Feb, and it looks like it's going to be going in relatively soon.
