rear view mirror with backup camera installed

I just had circuit city install a unit by Audiovox i purchased there. it's a rear view mirror kit that has a 2"x2" monitor built in the mirror, it works a backup camera which was mounted under the hitch bar, and you can switch the backup camera on and off from the mirror, and if you want, you can have it on even when going forward... also, it has another button to press to watch DVD's if you link it to a DVD system or headrest or drop down system. it is sooooo sweet!!

trying to insert pictures. the camera has a great picture quality, and the video screen can be turned on or off at any time so you can always see what is behind you even as you go forward! circuit city gave free installation, so i paid about $400 or so in total. when i get my dvd headrests hooked up, the mirror has an aux input to also watch dvd movies right in the rear view mirror at any time.

I like it. Looks pretty cool. The only thing that would worry me is someone walking by and ripping the camera off. But, I love the idea.

Thats pretty slick. I have to admit i was kinda sceptical reading, but looks like money well spent. How does the camera do at night? is there enough lighting, or does it have a night vision capability?

works well at night, you can see better than looking out the rear view mirror since the camera is outside, and the mirrors are looking through tinted glass... but if it's pitch black, then it's pitch black of course...

i also had the dealer install today what they calle the Silver Edition remote start package. it works with the keyless entry system, and they give you new key fobs with the remote start button on it. this is slick too.. nothing like getting into the shower while your truck is warming up...

Does the camera turn on when you put the truck in reverse or do you have to do it manually?

it is all manual, a button on the front of the mirror turns the monitor on or off in reverse or drive or park.. it's not automatic. it also ties into the DVD systems so you'd want to have it all manual on/off whenever you want.
