Dash Tray

I am considering modifing the TRAY that is above the radio on the dash. (2006 SCREW). This would be a great place for my GPS. I want to hinge this so I can hide my GPS when not in use. I want to buy a replacement tray to modify so I if I want to return it to stock I can. The problem is the tray costs $180.00. Anyone know if I can get this at a lower price??

Thanks that is a substantial savings, but thats way to much for a $20.00 piece of plastic (not your fault). I am going to modify the original or keep searching. Anyone with other ideas please chime in.

I just ordered the one from the 07's that has the Aux input in it for $37 (around there) shipped. I ordered it from Ed at parts@y2kford.com, it took us forever to find the right part number. There were two, one that was like $50 and another that was $170 (These are list prices). We assumed that the more expensive part had to be what we were looking for. He called Ford and they told him that what we were looking for was the cheaper part. He gave me his discounted price that he offers, and said that if it was not correct I could return it. I received it and it was the correct part. The part number on the box was 7L3Z-15042A82-AA then on the actual tray it has a sticker 7L34 15044A92 AB3JA6. Hope this helps, I am still curious what the expensive part is.

I have one of the 07 trays right now and just figured out the wiring for the factory radio, and I can also wire it to rca's for anyone lookng to add that input to aftermarket radios as well.

Nuthinbutaford-

Thanks for the Reprogram and the antenna. Everything works great!, What have you figured out of the 07 Tray to factory nav deal. Will I need to send the radio back to you to get it to work with the 07 Aux port. I have found the tray with the parts guy, but we couldn't find anything about the wire loom to connect it. Is this something I can get from you? I want it bad.

Thanks,

Cody Price

I talked to him today and he seems he has found the solution but it is a little pricey at the moment. He is having to buy a larger harness that includes the one we need. He then pulls the one we need from that harness. He is trying to find a supplier that will sell him just the one harness, not the other stuff that comes with it. I was told the same thing by my parts guy, that if I just wanted that one cable I was probably going to have to buy the whole wire loom for an 07 truck with that specific option. Anyhow, he said he will let us know as soon as he finds out. I hope this helps some. You can look in my gallery under audio mods, for my work around until I get the tray hooked up.

Elfiguero-

What is the part or model # for the PIE Adapter you bought? It would be nice to have the stock tray with input, but I like what you did in your pics. I don't use the ashtray anyway, and I like the fact you can put the Ipod in the cupholder. Did the PIE come with that little audio plug you have mounted? Also, on your nav unit, does the LINE IN button next to the SAT button become available?

Thanks,

Cody

The PIE adapter I am using is the basic PIE FRD04-aux, and it did not come with the audio plug. I went to radio shack and they had the "Raw" materials to make one, but I did not want to deal with that. I searched all over the web for a more professional looking audio plug. The only decent one I could find was made by Scosche and it came with the retractable line in cable, which I think is pretty neat. The part number is Scosche DCAXU, here is the Amazon link I bought it from, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...234865-5740024, the buyer I used (Beach Audio) is not listed at the moment. Here is a link to their site: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/seller...A2R0FX412W1BDT I paid about $17.00 shipped, it was the cheapest I could find. Everyone wanted like $15 to ship this little thing, it was crazy. The Line in Tab had to be unlocked (By Mark), the Sirius tab popped up when I plugged in the Sirius tuner and the DVD tab popped up when I used the Pie adapter. As for the Tabs, here are pictures of them.

The none of the buttons on this Tab do anything for me, I just hear my MP3 player coming through thats all.

Line In Tab does nothing for me at the moment.

Here is the Sirius Tab

I know this thread got slightly off-topic, but how are your fiberglass skills?

that tray could easily be made out of 'glass to do whatever your heart desires.

I am considering 'glassing up a smooth one for my truck as the tray just sits there with no purpose, i just havent found the time.
