I have auto lights on my 06 lariat, will bypass work w/z1???

Will i have to turn to off when i get home, so that on startup i can flick the lights on,off, for the bypass, then after it has loaded turn to auto lights?...i saw where i could program some box to do this for me on startup, but i dont drive this truck everyday, and dont mind switching it on after the system has bypassed and loaded to keep from having to wire and program something else under the dash...thanks, Clay

Just make sure it is off before you start up the truck. You can switch it to autolight after the (on/off bypass) and the Z1 is loaded up and running. Works fine for me.

So you have to do this every time and not just a one-time-only type thing? Geese that's a big inconvenience. This would also kill my HIDs.

Duke, Ducatiboy over at the Avic411 forum made this bypass circuit unit that automatically does it. Essentially what it does is that it tells your H/U that you flashed your headlights. However, it doesn't actually flash the headlights so it won't harm your HIDs. You just run your ILL wire through it and tap it into a 12v source and ground. It seems real easy with positive feedback from other board members. Ducatiboy has been nice enough to share his creation with the rest of the members for a relatively decent price. I ordered mine today.

Cool, if I go the Z1 way then I'll do that. I'm just still torn about the RDS and button color. 04Procomplariat just said he wants to sell his 6019 though as he is having a hard time navigating the screens and is going to go back to the w200.

So if I get a good price from him I might go that way. Though if the interface isn't as good as the z1, then maybe I shouldn't go with the 6019. It just hard because I went to 4 electronics stores and radio places today and none of them had either model for me to see and get a feel for how they work.

Hopefully 04Procomp can take some pics and I can compare it to the great pictures you took. It'd be nice if someone had first hand experience with both units to give and opinion on them.

Best of luck with your decision duke. I'm not sure what a good price is..but the shop where I got mine offered the Z1 for 1600. I think that's ok. This is off-topic but in one of your posts you mentioned a drone with your Mag SIDO. Is it real bad? Do you have the 18 or 24? I've seriously considered getting the Mag Catback but I do not want any noticeable drone. I've heard mixed opinions here.

Well in case you haven't noticed I'm picky. If I had to do it over again I would have just done a 24 inch magnaflow muffler as I've heard better responses from those who don't want to sound like a loud truck.

I wanted something that didn't sound stock but wasn't muscle car either. Kinda like the Denali's.

Anyhow, I'm pretty close to that with my 18inch magnaflow with a resonator before the muffler to help quiet it down.

Pretty much any aftermarket muffler regardless of size will have a little "moan" at 1800 RPMs, but luckily unless you're stuck cruizing at 50 or so, you don't have to hold this RPM often.

I would either do the 24 inch muffler or an 18 with a resonator. One or the other, not an 18 by itself. Can't say how quiet or loud the SISO is, as I have the SIDO. Supposeably the SISO is a little quieter than the SIDO though.

Have you heard of anyone saying the Kenwood has a bad user interface? From the pics I can find of the Kenwood, it doesn't look like the user interface (control screens) look as nice as the pioneer.

Thanks for the info Duke. I've been considering that or saving up money for Borlas. First off, my opinion is exactly that, my opinion, so I hope any Kenwood owner doesn't take offense to this. From the pics I have also seen of the Kenwood (probably the sames one you saw on this forum) it looked nice...but the UI just didn't seem up to par to the Z1, Eclipse, or Alpine (hence the reason I crossed it off my list first). I'm sure you've looked at the eclipse. I think it's the best unit out there with the green lighting you're looking for (and much better UI than the Kenwood). The good is that the 5495 and 6600 are both ipod compatible. The 5495 has a HD. Both Pioneer and Eclipse include navigation. Eclipse has been praised by many members on this forum. However it lacks BT capability, voice recognition, and navtraffic. So i guess it comes to how important certain features are. And then there is of course those blue buttons.

Yes, blast those blue buttons and lack of RDS. I was at first set on the Eclipse units because of the UI, buttons and how OEM it looked. Well then I learned about BT, voice recog, and navtraffic. Those are all key features that I could use A LOT!

So that marked eclipse off my list.

I have to agree about the Kenwood UI, though hopefully 04procomp will give us some pictures of the 6019 to see more.

I did however find screen shots of the kenwood 6019 paired with their new nav unit. It doesn't appear to be that bad since Garman makes their nav unit.

So far I think it's their iPod, AM/FM and CD interface that struggles. We'll see soon though.

OK, this may be a stupid question, but what are HID's?...

High Intensity Discharge lighting technology. You see them usually in those "upper-class" vehicles like acura, lexus and beemers with their white/bluish headlights. Duke's pretty famous on this forum for his retrofit with LS430 projectors.
