hey pmp welcome to the forums. Yea all of these things have the locked because of safety reasons and stuff. It's understandable but there are ways to bypass it. I'm not familiar with clarion so perhaps someone else can help you out. But you might try grounding the parking brake wire.

I have the same one. You have to put a switch in to make it think the brake is pressed. Hook the switch up with the parking brake wire and a ground.

No, the switch is not hooked to the brake at all so the brake light doesnt come on. Hook one side of the switch to the green wire and the other to a ground and just switch it on everytime you want to watch a movie. I cant use the video ipod feature yet because the ipod video cable isnt out yet. They claim june or july it will be out. I do have it hooked up with last years ipod cable just for music.

I believe thats the same cable im using, and the videos wont play through it. When you get it installed try it out. I called clarion about a month ago and they said they were going to release the cable in june or july. But i could be wrong. Let me know.
