While I haven't placed my antenna under the wiper cowl, I do know for a fact that it worked perfectly fine on top of the dash. So I'm assuming placing it under the wiper cowl would actually work better (if that makes any sense).

I have all 3 of mine mounted under there. GPS, XM, and Sirius all side by side. All work fine.

I have the XM and Nav antennas under the wiper cowl and both work perfectly.

Honestly if I had it do do over again though I wouldn't waste the money on the Pioneer XM reciever or any XM reciever for that matter. The sound quality is horrid, sounds like an old tape and I'm always going from perfect signal to no signal on the highway.

I don't suppose there's a way to put one of these AVIC Z1s into a 2003 Lariat supercrew is there?

I agree. The only reason I have it is for the navtraffic.
