kenwood ddx 6019

well after much deliberation, i decided to go with the kenwood ddx 6019 instead of the avic z1. dont get me wrong, i think that the z1 is great but the deciding factor had to be price. there pretty much the same anyways except for the built in hard drive in the z1 but i dont need that, i have my ipod. i'll post some pics soon.

I'd love to see some pics. The Z1 and 6019 are pretty even. Plus, the 30gb hd in the Z1 only has 10 gigs available for music.

Personally, I'm going with the AVIC-D2. Navtraffic is a big deal for me and I cant justify the extra $600 for the Z1.

Good luck! I'll post my pics as well (likely going to order it today.)

They pretty much are not the same. The Z1 has built in navigation, the Kenwood does not. The Z1 has a built in hard drive, the Kenwood does not. Those are two pretty big differences.

The Kenwood does look nice though. If you get it be sure to post pics of the interface. I heard it was much improved over previous Kenwood double din units.

You're right. Out of the box they're not even at all. But, when you start adding on the accessories, the Kenwood creeps up to the Z1's price range. Its still cheaper but not by much.

760red150,
Nice choice. I have the 6019 in a box ready to install. I decided to forgo the GPS
as my new cell phone has it and so will everything else in the near future.
I did notice in your pictures that the install looks very good. What bezel did you use? My unit came with two. A nice standard one and one that you have to trim
to fit. Is that the one you used?
Thanks

Nice unit and I am thinking along the same lines. Big question for me is the iPod interface. Do you have any photos or comments on the iPod functionality?

What is your opinion on the user interface in general?

Thanks

Ian

can I ask what tool you used to trim the bezel? I get one chance and I don't want to screw it up. I have a plastic blade for my table saw but this thing is so
thin that it worries me a little.
Thanks

Those pics in your gallery look awsome Red. I placed an order for mine yesterday and should be here for the end of the week.

How are you liking the controls on the unit so far?
Is there customizable background displays?

I cant wait to get mine installed, i have my kenwood keg all filled up with about 9.2 GB of music ready to go! I really missed my keg.. cant wait to get it all mated up.

ONce question, have you tried the mpeg playback function yet?

Crap, that things looks awesome. Now, you are making me want to switch to one of those again. Question: Do you have it tilted down? It looks like it sticks out quite a bit at the top. I assume it can still sit flush when the angle is flat?

Also, can you or anyone with this unit tell me if it will control an external processor? It needs to be able to control my SR903 5.1 processor. It does not say anywhere on the web that it does. Thanks.

the controls are cool. easy to get around the diff. menus. it has like 5 or 6 diff backgrounds you can choose from. i think they could have been better.
