Eclipse avn5500 and ipc-106 ipod adaptor?

Has anyone gotten the Eclipse ipod adaptor to work with the avn5500? I purchased both from Crutchfield and the adaptor refuses to work. Crutchfield tech support was no help and ended up referring me to Eclipse. They suggested some different settings which totally conflicted with what was printed in the manual and failed to work as well.

I have tried all possible combinations of selector switch settings in addition to connecting the unit directly to the avn5500 instead of looping it through the sirius reciever. It displays "eclipse" on the ipod screen and you can hear the music playing but I have no control from the head unit.

UPDATE - I just got off the phone with crutchfield and they told me that the compatibility status between the two units has been revoked so I am returning it :-(

That really sucks, and pretty much makes up my mind for me. I'm ordering a Pioneer AVIC Z1 today. iPod control is something that I absolutely must have, and the bluetooth compatability will be icing on the cake.

tdamore,

I would contact Eclipse's customer support. Their website http://www.eclipse-web.com/ipc/index.html#chart indicates the ipc-106 is compatible with the AVN5500 and lists the supported features of the ipc-106 on the AVN 5500. I went and checked Crutchfield's site and they have removed it as an accessory for the AVN 5500 as you indicated. Looking at just the ipc-106 on Crutchfield there is one review and the reviewer says to be sure to follow the updated instructions or the adapter won't work so it sounds like he had similar problems during his installation. Crutchfield support is pretty good, but they are wrong quite often. They said the Pioneer AVIC D1 wouldn't fit in an F150 which Crutchfield does now show as a fit as we all know it does. They're saying the Pioneer AVIC Z1 won't fit in an F150, which I don't think is correct either. May just not fit using their current Metra adapter.

Thanks for the replies. I actually called Eclipse and their support person suggested I try a different selector switch setting ( A,A instead of B,B for those who care). Still didn't work after trying that and every other combination I could think of. Either way, Eclipse should be doing this "troubleshooting" before they release the product instead of using customers as guinea pigs. I am pretty bummed because Ipod support was a pretty important feature for me but I like the Eclipse nav better than the Pioneer. Either way this will be the last Eclipse product I buy.

Eclipse 5500AVN

I have the 5500 in my 06 F150 with Sirius satelite. I also have the I pod but it has to connect to the aux plug to get it to work. If you have Sirius and I pod they are not compatable to use so you can control the Ipod from the head unit. They make you chose one or the other. I had the same issue with Eclipse on my other vehicle. The Ipod works with the AUX connection fine. I don't use the IPOD unless my son is in the car and he controls it manually. The Eclipse sound with a 5 channel AMP is great. 6x8 MBQ reference series both front/rear doors and PPI 5 Channel behind rear seat with 10" JL sub under rear seat.

The ipod adapter doesn't work at all with the 5500. I tried it without the sat. receiver and it still didn't work. I just keep it plugged into the aux and control it by hand...that way I can watch videos too.

I also got stuck with the AVN5500, what a pile of SHXX, for what it is the Ipod should not be such an issue, PLUS Eclipse could careless an really offer no support, Pioneer next time
