Help with oem dvd player

Was wondering if anyone had any ideas on the problem i am having with the oem dvd rail system. i bought the dvd player off ebay, fits into rail sytem, after getting it i realized that my 2004 F150 supercrew didn't have the dvd prep package. i tracked one down off ebay, after seeing dealer(didn't have anything). i installed it last night and it doesn't work. the lights come on with illumination and the dvd accepts and ejects the dvd's, thats it. power doesn't come on at all with button on dvd player or remote, was wondering after i looked at it that it might have something to due with CANbuss comm. my audio unit is and single disc cd player, single tape player, with an aux button, i push that button just says "no aux audio" any ideas? did ford change protocals 2004 and 2005? my audio unit part number starts with an 4 and the dvd player part number starts with a 5!!! thanks in advance! also checked power and grounds all okay!

did you add a harness that in some way goes from the head unit all the way to the dvd player?

on the truck when i unplugged from the back of the audio unit was 1 pluggin, a 24 pin connector, there was a another connector opening on the back that wasn't used. the harness i bought goes directly from dvd to audio unit. the harness i have has one plug in for dvd player, and the audio unit end has 4 connector/s male and female, unplug vehicle connector and plug into female end of harness, take the other end and plug into audio unit(24pin). the other connector(16pin) female end plug dirctly into audio unit, but because there was no original connector to audio unit(16pin) the other female end of (16pin) is just hanging there.

I'm not sure if you already checked this or not, but I know there are compatibility issues between the 2004 DVD players and the 2005 radios and vice versa. Most of the 2004 radios are Visteon and the 2005+ radios are Delphi. From what I have read you have to have the same year of DVD player and radio.

04 vs. 05 MY DVD

What is the full part number of the DVD unit? If the suffix is A* it is only compatible with 05MY radios. If it is B* it is compatible with 04MY radios (there was a transition period with MSCAN and termination).
