How do I hook up the factory sub?
How do I hook up the factory sub?
This place is awesome! This is my first new Ford truck since giving up on GM.FORDS RULE!!!! The boys at Ford had me in mind when they built this truck!Any way,my truck has all the options but DVD because I new it would be cheaper to do myself.I installed a Jensen 9020TS today and I love it but I can't find the proper harness to hook up the factory sub.I love to hook up and install electronics so I was hoping someone would know what wires do what in the factory stereo plug to the sub so I can wire it myself.Crutchfield has the harness but are out of stock.Anyone know the specifics on this plugs color codes?Any help would be great.Thanks,Bob.
I just got a 2006 FX4 with the 6CD in-dash radio. I upgraded to the audiophile and factory subwoofer and it was simple.
The subwoofer harness was installed at the factory and well hidden both behind the dash and under the carpet in the back. There is a thread on here that describes how to find the rear plug. Generally it said to look under rear seat on drivers side for a 3 inch (or so) slit in the carpet. The slit needs expanded to actually find the plug by fell because it's taped up and attached to the floor. The slit was under the back conrer of the seat about 8 inchs from the corner of the sill.
The front plug was taped to a dash support on the lower left side of the radio cavity.
Both took some careful detective work buyt they were there on my truck,
Had to "modify" the legs on the factory sub to get it to fit under the rear seat (my FX4 is a SCab with the suicide doors and midgfet seat.)
Sound is dramitic improvement. I'm going to upgrade the front door spekers and add the tweeters that came with the audiophile also. Again the wires and cut-outs are already in place.

Your advice just saved me some serious bucks! The Eclipse 5435 sounds good now -- but will sound great with that sub working.
