What do u recommend to achieve this setup??

Alright so the stock mp3 player 6 disk changer pretty much sucks (mp3 cd's always skipping, etc). I want to get a screen as well. The setups I am considering is either a flip out screen w/ the alpine single DIN speaker underneath it, or a double din screen (like avic d1). These are basically the things I want in the HU...

-Dvd Playback built in
-mp3/cd built in
-ability to play dvd's while driving (i know this requires some sort of bypass, so which have this ability?)
-touchscreen would be nice, but not necessary

Dont need navigation.

Let me know what you guys recommend....Dont want anything too expensive, just something that will get done what I need above...

Let me know

The alpine IVA-d301 is a good solid unit. It will play DVDs with Mp3 on them.

I have mostly stuck with Alpine all my life. They are nice and expandable. The time I saw an alpine CD player in a paint shaker really sold me. Plus... they just dont break. They are car audio only and stand behind their product.

The IVA-d301 is nice too because as components get outdated you can just replace them and keep the d301.

The kenwood double din unit looks nice too. I have had mixed results with Pioneer.

The Eclipse unit looks nice but they are a pretty new company.

The Pioneer you list is about the only unit that will not play DVD.

I second the Alpine IVA-D310. Awesome unit. The Kenwood double din units are very nice as well. The new Alpine double din coming out soon should be really sweet. It really comes down to if you want single din or double din. There are fewer double din to choose from than single din. With built in DVD and no navi, Kenwood, Jensen, Valor and Rosen are about the only units for now. Alpine and Clarion coming soon. A couple of the older model Eclipse units were double din without navi but I think all their new double dins have built in navi.

What about his question about playing a DVD movie while driving?

Not that I would do that, but I've been thinking about saving up for a D310, H701 processor, and the single DIN center speaker. I'd like for my kids (via headrest monitors) and wife to be able to watch a movie while heading down the road. Also, what speaker/sub/amp combo would be optimum for a setup like this, that would give the best of both worlds when it comes to a wide variety of music (Some rap, but not a big basshead), as well as movies?

TIA,

Eclipse has been around since 1988 and their parent company, Fujitsu Ten is bigger than most of the other audio companies combined. If your not going to add amps look at the older avx2494 it has a 20 gig hard drive and its a double din w/6.5" screen. If you are adding amps the new flip screen 7" avx5000 has preamp outputs as well as all the nav double din 6.5"models. The eclipse avn5435 is a good unit and does everything you want plus nav and still costs about the same as the non nav other brands. Also has a few things the others don't like 3year warranty one year theft gaurantee with the ESN and 3 5volt preamp outputs.
