Pda Gps

Does anyone run GPS through there PDA? I've been thinking about getting a PDA and I just happened to notice that you can add GPS for a small price to some of the newer models.

I found a local electronics store that has a Palm E2 with a navigation pack (Tom Tom Nav 5) for $349.99. The price fits the bill but I'm not sure if it will come with all of the cool features I would want.

Thank for the info guys

Hello, I have the navman PiN and I love it. I do want to upgrade to the newer Smart ST 2005 which I will do soon. I did also have to add the external antennae, but it works well and comes with mount, car power, etc...

I purchased the unit and the maps are complete crap. I'm taking it back this afternoon for a Pharos GPS 525.

I have an iPaq PDA and picked up a Holix receiver and iGuidance software. The receiver is SIRFIII and bluetooth so there are no wires to my PDA. I did a lot of research on the receiver and software before buying anything, and almost made the mistake of picking something cheap up on Ebay.

There are a bunch of software packages out there, and in my opinion, OCN5 (On Course Navigator 5), iGuidance, and Mapopolis are the best out there. I read that people with some pocket PCs had issues with the speed of the maps updating with OCN5, but their software looks the best. For Mapopolis, the maps are supposed to be the best, but it is a subscription service. If I traveled more for a living, then I prolly would have gotten that. The iGuidance was middle of the road and also came with the PC version that could be put on a laptop. So far I am very happy with it. It runs just fine off my SD card with only NY, NJ, CT, PA, DE, MD maps loaded in. iGuidance comes with US, Mexico, and Canada maps and you can select states or regions to load.

Check out this website and go to the PDA forum. The site helped me a lot.http://www.gpspassion.com/fr/default...rentVersion=EN

I bought my stuff from http://semsons.com/ . They seemed to have the best prices on everything. I also picked up the Akron powered PDA mount that works out very well.

I've seen many complaints about TomTom software. Read those forums and your head will explode from all of the information. There are a couple of good sticky threads in there, and a comparison of all the software that is out.
