New Install
New Install
Hey guys,
I just had a new system put in the truck an figured I'd post up the pics that I have so far. I don't have pictures of the amps as I didn't install it myself and they are behind the seat (I know, I was being lazy). Here's what I put in:
1. Clarion ProAudio VRX755VD DVD/MP3 Receiver/7" LCD Monitor (touchscreen, can connect and control ipod from the screen)
2. Audiobahn A8000T 800W x 1 Car Amplifier - hooked up two 10' XS-L102P5 five-sided 10" subwoofer's in parallel (400 watts rms each). The subs will only do 300 watts rms so I figured you can't have enough power.
3. Infinity Reference 7540a 111W RMS x 4 Car Amplifier
4. Infinity Reference 6810cs 6"x8" 2-way Component System . (These are only rated @ 90 watts rms so the 4 channel amp has NO problem pushing these.)
5. I already replaced the front and rear door speakers with Alpine S-Series SPS-570A's. I took the fronts out and had the components put in.
I didn't install a capacitor, the installer said it shouldn't require one and he was right. It sounds amazing!! It gets unbelieveably LOUD. I credit the way over powered amps with that. I literally can't turn it all the way up to where it distorts, my ears can't take it. The components were extremely "bright" sounding, It has taken me a few days to tweak the settings on the head unit to where it sounds a little more bearable. I wish I had access to at least that 4 channel amp so that I could adjust it at the amp and not the HU. Anyways, here are the pics, I will post the amps when I get brave enough to remove the rear seat
I had the installer mount the adapter upside down so that the HU would be in the lower box in the dash. That's why the adapter sticks out on the top and goes in a little on the bottom. I would normally freak out about this but the cost to have something fabricated was far greater than my wanting it to be perfectly flush.

I like the set-up. I really like the monitor mounted low rather than high. I am not a big fan of flip-outs but the low mount makes it look better. You may pull the mount out and see if you add some heat to the plastic if you can bend it back a little to sit flush with the dash. The box is a little much but you obviously wanted loud so sacrifices have to be made, its not that bad. Plus, I bet the sound is wicked.
to the Samsung, we are thinking of getting that for our bedroom. Is the DLP all that its hyped up to be. How are the regular non HD channels?

The system sounds absolutley insane. I've really got to DynaMat the interior now. I'm really impressed with how well the truck is put together on the inside. With all the vibration those 10's are putting out the interior is holding together VERY well (no rattles or squeeks anywhere). I don't know that I would have gotten that head unit of I couldn't have mounted it lower, I hate the look of it being so high over the dash.
As far as the DLP set goes, it everything and more..... I would recommend using a sat dish to minimize it looking crappy when you're viewing a standard def show. I've read and heard that Cable providers do not send as good of a signal so it looks extremely bad when it's thrown onto a large (42-61 inches) DLP set like this one. I had a 36 inch sony VVega before this and when I'm watching a standard def show it looks just like that. In closing....I highly recommend DLP technology, you can probably take your pick of reputable manufacturers. I'm happy with the samsung though.
Thanks for the compliments on the truck.
