How can I play DVDs with AVIC-N1 while driving.

Not for me to watch, but my daughter in the backseat. The guy that installed it said he grounded the lead for the parking brake, but when I first put the DVD in it says that the lead is not connected properly. It will play, but when I get over 5mph this warning pops up and blocks the screen. When I stop it goes away and the DVD is viewable again. Is there anyway to make it so that I can play DVDs at all times?

That sounds like the unit has GPS and knows when it's moving...

Is there anyway to turn the GPS off while playing a DVD?

What unit do you have? If it has any Naviagtion systems or GPS on it, then chances are it won't work when you drive over 5 mph or so. As far as I know, there's no way around this... Now if you don't have GPS, then the reverse wire needs to be grounded for it to work without the ebrake on.

pioneer recently started putting "gyros" that sense the movement into the dvd players so you cant play it while moving as a good speed. they did this because they recently got sued for some guy in a truck watching **** on his dvd player and not paying attention to the road, killed a whole family the result of it was a more complex way of making sure it wasnt being played while driving

There will always be away around things, sooner or later someone will find a route around any safety feature.

But your post does sounds like an ‘urban legend’. IMO
