All,
I've got an AVIC-D1 installed in my '05 F150 with a JL audio 5x500 amp. I'm running JL speakers and a stealthbox with JL wiring as well.

Here's the problem...once out of every three or four times I turn the truck on, the D1 turns on and everything works except the sound (backup camera, nav, etc all good). I don't even get a "ding" when I switch between navi and the audio menu...nothing.

What is really wierd about it is that I'll be going down the road for 5 or 10 minutes, and the sound will come on all of a sudden. Occasionally, the sound will also cut off for no reason.

I'm not sure if it is an amp problem or a problem with the D1. It is almost as if something fails to load in the program when I turn the truck on or like a slow booting computer.

I checked the owner's manual and it doesn't say anthing about how to troubleshoot it. I plan on taking it back to my installer when I get a chance, but the job has me pretty busy right now. Thought I'd check with you guys to see if you've ever heard of something like this in the D1 or any other system for that matter.

sounds like a wiring problem. I used to have that problem with my subs. Take it to a respectable shop and have them check it out, might have a pinched wire in all that mess somewhere...
