Is Factory Overhead DVD any good?

I am buying a new '05 screw 4x4. I want to know if the factory DVD player is worth the money, or should I get an aftermarket installed. Is the factory one easy to see (no crick in neck)? Is the picture quality okay? My son would love watching the DVD on long trips.

Thanks,
Kyle

I have the factory one and it works and looks good. I'm not sure if it's worth the money though.. Have you looked at the portable DVD players at Best Buy? You can get one for as little as $150 bucks. Then you just set it on the center console. If you do end up going with the installed overhead AND you plan on keeping your factory stereo, then go with the factory DVD for ease of use and compatibility. If you are going to change out your stereo, then get an aftermarket DVD player for ease of use and compatibility. The factory stuff doesn't really let you install aftermarket products easily.

save the money and go aftermarket.. wanted sunroof, so was unable to get the factory one..but ordered one off ebay and had ultimate electronics install for me since I didn't want to take a chance of unit falling down since you have to build support beams with the sunroof and with install & unit still saved over $500!
here are some pics of my unit which has 8" widescreen, great picture quality and the kids love it!!! makes dad happy on the drives too

I asked the dealer accessories guy about the factory roof mounted one and he said that it isn't worth it because a person's neck has to be cricked up at an awkard, sharp angle to watch it. Is there any truth to that? I haven't personally looked in a truck with it installed.

Anyways, the dude recommended the dual headrest approach and wanted to charge me over $3000 to do it. I said hell no. You can go to Best Buy and get the entire dual headrest system with player, headphones, etc. for $1200. I'll prob. be doing that shortly.

That sounds like a nice way to go.
