Pioneer avic D1
Pioneer avic D1
was looking at the new Pioneer double din avic D1 unit on their web site. Seems like a nice unit except for no DVD playback. Does have DVD navigation though. Just wondering--is there REALLY no DVD playback, or is there a way to over ride the system? I know I heard Pioneer doing something like this on the AVIC N2, so just wondering if anyone has attempted to bypass this if possible. Seems to me if it is a DVD-ROM reader, then it should read and display DVD's--but I am no electronics wizard, and I know some of you are
Thanks.
Thanks.
Hmmm......after further review, I see Pioneer lists the AVIC N2 as being able to play DVD's----just not while driving---just like many of you have already stated. I guess the D1 will not be able to play DVD's at all--vehicle parked or otherwise--too bad---seemed like Pioneers' version of the Eclipse. Oh well--I will keep looking I guess.......
I'm disappointed in that too. Why go to all the trouble of making the cool screen and the ability to read DVD 's then not play them?
If it's to save on cost, then I hope it sells for less than $1500 MSRP although I doubt it.
