kenwood nav/dvd owners

Have any of you had any problems with the turn by turn voice guidance? If so, did you fix it or not? If you fixed it, what was the problem? I can't get mine to work. When I input a destination and start guidance, the voice comes on and says "please proceed to the highlighted route and guidance will begin" or something to that effect. But the voice guidance does not begin. The route is there and my location changes but no dam voice When I touch the speaker icon it says "please refer to the map" Any answers would help.

Thanks
Mitch

You need to connect the speed sendor wire. It is the grey/black wire on the wiring harness. Search the forums for 'speed sensor wire' for more info.

If you had the speed sensitive volume on the stock radio there is a vss wire in the harness connecting to the radio. I used this wire in my 2000 f150 for the dv4100 system and it works perfectly. I'll see if I can dig up the correct wire for you.

I believe its a Gray/Black wire in the factory harness. I don't know how many plugs your orignial radio had. My truck had a 16 pin and a 20 pin. In the 20 pin harness, thats used for a factory cd changer and other random things, the vss wire can be found. If you have an extra connector that you didn't connect when installing th aftermarket system I would check it. I hope this helps.

got it

I talked to an installer by my house and he said they pull the gauges out and tap into the back, so that is what i did. The grey/black wire was right there. couldn't have benn easier. Now its like i have an all new stereo again. The voice guidance works great. Thanks for the advise on the colors guys. Mitch

Glad to hear that worked out. The voice guidance is great. I like all of the different accents and languages you can get the unit to use. My roommate was amazed at the things this unit can do. Anyway, hope you enjoy the new features.
