im about to head up to circuit city and get the double din faceplate, and hopefully get that installed sometime this week, my next check covers car note, then 2 weeks i get paid again i was thinkin the weekend after that, cuz i have to get all the wires, and some mdf to make the speakers fit, so i was thinkin maybe the weekend of the 7th? if that works for everyone, let me know, if not, let me know when yall are game, i could just pick up wires and stuff on my credit card, no biggee. i have a decent basic tool set, sockets, allen wrenches, a drill and stuff like that, anything in particular i will need for this install?

EDIT- Update: Got everything put together and ready to go for the dvd, but chickened out on the install, the harness connection was fairly self explanatory, but at the same time i want to have someone look over the wires before i go ahead and plug it in, just to make sure that i dont have anything connected wrong and fry the dvd player. a guy at work used to do custom audio, fabrication and all, so i am gonna have him look it over tomorrow if he gets time, and i should be watchin my first movie tomorrow night if all goes well! wish me luck

as of right now im definitely gonna need the help... the dvd is an easy enough install once i know the harness is hooked up right, but tearin my car apart, messin with an amp, new speakers and stuff, way out of my league. i was thinkin do it saturday if nobody's busy, then maybe hit up augies for a few more beers afterwards if yall want. anybody know about how long this should take? im wanting to put the amp under the passenger seat, unless there is a better location im not thinking of? i.e. behind the back seat, but im not sure if there is enough room back there, either one of you know off the top of your head? my amp is about 2.5 inches tall X 11 1/16 inches wide X 9 7/8 inches deep

it should fit behind the seat! however im not 100%. i know there are some threads out there about behind the rear seat install. is this amp just for your door speakers? no sub! i would give it a few hours to be on the safe side, thats doing a clean install. I know i work this comming sat till about 330, after that im available.

yes, the amp is just for my door speakers, and im curious as to whether or not it will be worth it, if i will notice that much of a difference, i have a 200 watt headunit, one set of speakers is 100 watts, another is 280, so i realize that my headunit is only getting halfway there, i might just save the amp for a sub or 2. i do have wo 12 inch audiobahn a1206t subs, 1200 watts each, in a box tuned to 40 hz, but those were going to go in my last car, plus the audiobahn a2300 hct amplifier (2400 watts), audiobahn 3 farad cap, digital distribution terminals + and -, a 2nd battery (exide orbital, 750 cca, 950 mca), amp isolator, and an amp install kit (3000 watts), this system was originally gonna go in the car i was driving before i got the truck, and i dont think it would fir unless i pulled the rear seat, put captians chairs in the back, and the subs in the center (someone else i saw on here did that, looked good, but too much $, i got other stuff i want to do). now i have to find someone to buy all that stuff so i can mod my truck more, but want to do it locally cuz shipping is a b..... back on topi tho, what do yall think, should i run my speakers off the amp, or save it for a couple smaller subs? would i notice a big difference with the amp huk'd up?

you will notice a diff. with the amp, the speakers will have a much cleaner sound with the amp, not to say they will sound bad with out it. its all up to you! it aint nothin to install your h/u and then your door speakers, and then see how you like it! Down the road, get a sub, add that, and if the sub drowns out the rest, then you can add. thats what im doing. im replacing h/u and door speakers for right now, as the $$$ comes in i can then add a sub/amp and or a componate (sp) amp!

got the dvd in about 20 minutes ago, i had the wires hooked up right, so when my guy looked them over i didnt feel like a complete idiot. really easy to do, the only part that is really rigged is the park control, just hit it with some electrical tape to the metal inside the dash, it works, but i will have to come up with something better down the road, window tint guy should be here in 20 minutes, i cant wait. there is already a noticeable difference in just the factory speakers with the new headunit, definitely louder, i cant wait for the new speakers...

gotta find the cord for my digi, tomorrow i will take som pics with my phone, and if they come out good i will post them up here, tint came out awesome! except the guy messed up and put my mirror back on upside down (the mount, not the mirror, so it sits to high) and the dvd player works! im impressed with myself, and i grounded the park so that it can play movies while i drive (not for me, for my 4 1/2 year old son when we go on drives)
