Thumbs down Cadillac Escalade EXT to compete with Lincoln Blackwood

I saw an article in Motor Trend that this vehicle will try to compete with the Blackwood.

Here is what their web site says:
What began as the most powerful SUV in the world has been transformed into something more -- the Escalade EXT. By blending a 345-hp, luxury sport utility vehicle with a truck, Cadillac has created a vehicle unlike any other. The all-wheel drive Escalade EXT delivers power, performance, and bold styling that's unmistakably Cadillac.

STANDARD FEATURES & SPECS

Interior Features & Amenities

Air bags, frontal and side-impact, driver and front passenger

7-speaker Bose® Rich Base system, 200 watts, with in-dash 6-disc CD changer, and Sony® rear seat earphones

Independent controls for 2 sets of Sony® earphones that stow in rear center armrest

The rear air conditioning controls allow passengers to electronically control their own temperature setting, in vehicles not equipped with a sunroof.

Damped door storage covers, large storage bin and special storage areas, Zebrano wood accent trim, rear seat audio, and analog clock

Overhead with reading lamps, HomeLink transmitter, storage, and optional sunroof.

The trip computer includes readouts for personal and business trip odometers, annual mileage data, average and instant fuel economy, range on remaining fuel, and day/date/time all displayed in French, English, Spanish, or Arabic

Trip computer also acts as the control center to set preferences for the automatic door locks, remote lock feedback, headlamp delay, perimeter lighting, seat position recall, alarm warning, and curb-view passenger mirrors.

OnStar, the technology that gives you access to a trained OnStar Advisor 24 hours a day, seven days a week will soon be offering two new features. Personal Calling, which allows drivers to make and receive hands-free, voice-activated personal calls from their vehicle without an additional cellular contract; and OnStar Virtual Advisor, which will deliver to the vehicle personalized Internet-based information such as news headlines, sports scores, stock quotes, and weather conditions. Both services will be available through OnStar's unique three-button system, offering completely hands-free operation.

And, OnStar offers you instant access to over five million listings. So, at the click of a button you always have instant access to ATM locations, hotels and restaurants. OnStar does more than help you find a place to eat; it also provides very sophisticated safety functions. With the push of a button, OnStar attempts to contact an OnStar Advisor for help. So, in any emergency situation a trained OnStar Advisor is as close as your fingertips, a feature that is as comforting as our luxurious seats.

I liked the Avalanche at first, then I saw it in person. It's an ugly, plastic body panel, Tahoe. Neat idea, but wrong look. Now the Caddy...god, what next? A Denali? Please Ford, take a lesson, don't do it!!!

I agree that Cady truck look horrible. In my opinion that is not a truck but instead is a car with a 4 foot bed. Does el camino ring a bell. A truck isn't a truck in my OPINION if it doesn't have a 8 foot bed

clone cars(or in this case trucks)!!

If any of yall have looked at them up close and personal the caddy Escalade is just a Chevy Tahoe with a diffrent front clip and a butt load of plastic body pannels, and the EXT is just the same way). And not to mention it has so many electrical gizmos, I just say the more there are the more prone to mal****ions it will be.

I just can't believe (or don't want to) that there's going to be enough buyers of the Blackwood that there's going to be a need for competition. How many of these ridiculous Barbie Dream Trucks are people possibly going to buy? Thank god the SUV trend is dying down finally.

Question

Is it just me or is the new Escalade disgusting? I liked the look of the first one - i thought it looked pretty good, but this new one (and especially the EXT)are F-UGLY!! The front end looks like it got smashed in a 30mph front end collision!! Get rid of it GM!!!
Also - "What began as the most powerful SUV in the world" - who are they kidding? just because it has 345hp? But it only has 380 ft.lbs of tourque - which is what you really need in a truck - 380-Ha! how does 420ft.lbs sound!!!

P.S.- get rid of the Aztech while your at it!!!! PLEASE!!!

That thing is butt ugly! The older design escalades were at least better than these P.O.S. and they say it is the most powerful suv, but the thing is like a tank, its gotta weigh 500000000 tons!. Come on lincoln, show em up
