I was looking at some old posts and in one of them you posted a pic of the chrome grill for your Blackwood . I've been looking for one like it for my 'Wood but can't find. There was an E-Bay auction posted but it was too old and was deleted. Do you know how I could get one? The only ones that I see on E-Bay now are plastic ones that are glued over the stock p;astic. Has anyone had any success with these?

Morning Rich:
I have the JJ versions upper and lower on my Wood.
They are a heavy weight stainless steel, not chrome and I think that was all that was offered, no chrome.
Looks fairly decent and does brighten up the front end.
They are held on by a bracket arrangement where you fit the bracket behind a couple of points behind the grille openings and use the supplied screws/bolts to tighten the things on. They do come loose after a bit and need to be tightened every few months or so.
If you are in no real hurry, I would be happy to sell you mine in 4 months or so when I let my Wood go. Email me if you are interested.

Hi Bill,
Is yours the same one that 777 had posted a picture of? Is it the type that goes over the original plastic or do you have to remove the original bars? Who is the manuf? Thanks for the info.

Grilles
Rich:
Go to www.j-jent.com and hit the SUV grilles pic and you will get what I have. I paid like $475 which to me was rather a lot for what I got but they look pretty good.

I looked at the J&J web page and the picture of the grill that they offer looks good but I can't figure how you would not be able to see the original grill if you just lay this one over top and tighten it against the original one. I called them and the guy explained how it attaches but said that you can still see the original plastic one when you are done. You said that yours looks good and the pix look good but I can't figure out how this won't look half a++ed up close. I guess that I'm a little dense. Aaaneeehoo....I'm going to try to get to the local distributor to see if he can get a sample. Then maybe it will make sense to me. It just seems a little Mickey- rigged for the money.

Sorry for the disjointed replies. My keyboard was acting up and even though I replaced the batteries twice, I must have had old ones and it just was not working. Had to run to Radio Shack and get some fresh ones.
Anyway here is the deal. The J&J kit is what I will call an "overlay" which is to say it replicates the same number of grille pieces on the top part and you merely bolt it over the existing plastic grille bars. And... it does take some fiddling to get the new bars to match up to the old ones. On the bottom part, there are no existing bars so the piece just fills the hole with "new bars".
From a few feet away, you do not notice that you have just only covered up the old bars but if you walk right up to the truck, you can see what the kit does. That is not to say it is tackey but it is, as I said above, a bit of a stretch to pay almost $500 for an essentially "band aid" solution to brightening up the grille area.
If you are good at that sort of thing, which I am not, you could probably figure out a way to remove the original upper grille apparatus and replace it with the stainless setup. You would have to fabricate your own brackets etc. but it might look better.
Just as side note and I realize I am violating a few rules here, I will be taking off my Superchips chip and Air Force filter before I turn in the Wood so they will be up for grabs.
Hope this helps.

I don't think that I woiuld be afraid to try to remove the p;astic grill if I could find something that was made to drop in. If I'm going to spend that much, I might s well get it right.
As for the chip and the intake, if I havn't done anything by then, or yoju want to switch it out now, I'm interested. Let me know.
