Stoopid Question
Stoopid Question
I was poking around in the interior of my 'Wood today and noticed that on the underside of the console covers ,both front and rear, there is a moulded in compartment that looks as if it was made for something specific. Can't figure out what they are for. Can anyone solve the mystery(without making me look like a big dummy)? Too much free time. I guess.
Straps:
There is no such thing as a stoopid question at least not on this board.
I use both of those compartments to store CDs for both the CD player and the Navigation system. I believe that is what they were meant for. In my case, I had to stuff in a little bit of foam insulation to keep them from rattling.
To add to my post on mods, be careful if you go with a performance muffler/mufflers. Mine has a very nice mellow sound at idle and under accelleration, it sounds really very nice whether at part throttle or full throttle. However...... it has a nasty resonance between 70 and 85 mph which is my normal Interstate cruise speed up here and where I normally travel to (New York and Nebraska). I either have to live with it or drive slower than necessary or just a tad too close to speeds the radar ***** preset their equipment. Don't know about Fla, but around here and on my normal routes you can do 10-12 over the limit and not get noticed. 15 mph and more and you are generally dead meat.

I thought that maybe there was a CD holder or something else that came with the car that I was missing that slid in there. It sure looks purpose built. Would be a good place for the manuals , but they dn't fit. CD's really don't fit either. Seems like some engineer went to a lot of trouble to design that.
What kind of muffler (brand and type) do you run? I've been told that the Flowmasters that I've been used to don't do well performance wise on this type engine. Speed really isn't a problem for me. Got a "Dutch Uncle" who can hook me up if I get in trouble.
Was watching American Hot Rod tonite and Boyd Cpddington drove up to his shop in a Blackwood. You could only see it for a second in the background.Surprised that it looked stock, too.

Ooops, then again I re-read your question and you are talking about the cubby hole under the console lid themselves? I would assume it is to hold the navigation CD's or other CD's in general.
