My Blackwood Twin on E-bay (Well Almost)

Was perusing E-bay to look at current Blackwood prices and came across VIN # 35 for sale. Only 2 digits from my own Blackwood.

Hmmm.

$27K was the high bid and it did not meet reserve.
As an owner, glad for that.

RP:

Go back to digging rocks and driving your KR (which probably ain't worth what you would like it be either) and leave us poor suffering rich guys alone.

It isn't enough that all our stock options and 401K plans tanked, our internet stocks are under water and Martha Stewart is a cheat, now our vehicle of choice won't fetch 50% of retail after 18 months.

I have to leave now as I am going down to the basement to look at my portfolio of Imperial Russian Bonds that I bought at a really good discount 40 years ago. Only paid 40 cents on the dollar for those puppies.

I'm not welcome here... I'll quietly go away.

Don't let the mean boys scare you away. I'm always around to welcome a new man to our little group.

RP: Just funnin' with you amigo. You are always welcome here.
As a BTW, the KR was on my short list of a replacement for my Lightning. I looked at the HD, a diesel Excursion and the KR.
There was at that time, literally no budging on pricing on those three and they were giving Blackwoods away so that is what I drive.

No regrets at all except for short term resale value.
Sure did like that King Ranch though and not many made it to Georgia. In fact, I see almost as many Blackwoods around here as I do KRs.

I'm still talking to this stealership via email about that truck but, from the sounds of it, they may have a buyer there tomorrow (Wed) so... life may just have to move on...

I love my KR. It's a really nice truck and is very solid but, I really love the 'limited look' of the woods. I've only seen TWO on the road EVER in Louisville and it might have been the same one both times. I'm just not sure. I'd like to be a part of your little clan (even though that would require me to toss in the towel as the International King Ranch Owners Club President - hahaha).

Doesn't look like it will pan out but, I'm keeping my finger on the pulse anyway.

I see it has been relisted and the bid is now $30,500 and reserve has been met.

I never give real advice on these issues, but the dealer had the NADA book right and it looks pretty clean. So, if it can be purchased for let us say $31/32K it might be a decent buy if not a super cents on the dollar bargain.

Buying one of these critters is a pretty emotional decision in that if you like it you are happy and if you don't it is an expensive mistake even at the above prices.

For myself, I have had F150s of the 5.4 variety in several flavors, stock, Lightning and now the Wood (Yes Virginia it is after all an F150). As much as I enjoyed the Lightning, I like the DOHC 5.4 a lot more and as time and money permit I hope to make it into a pretty nice performing 5700 pounder without spending a real fortune. Not Lightning performance, but honestly more of a runner than a KR with a lot of mods.

As to the creature comforts, I would guess they are close to a draw in that the KR has some really nice interior treatments probably equal to the Wood in most respects.

As to rarity and eye candy appeal it is probably a no brainer. KRs were produced in larger numbers (don't have the numbers) and probably a lot more evenly distributed than Woods. If owning a rare ride lights your bulb, a Wood is a definite 10.

I will be interested to see how you proceed on this. Remember, Rdy/with swapped, I think, a Navigator for her Wood and never looked back.

Please keep us informed.

Hrrm, interesting....

I'm going to have to let it walk. I'm torn and honestly, don't have the expendable cash to toss at it right now (my 401k and Roth has taken an a$$-kicking in recent months as well).

I better stick with what I, generally, own...

Thanks for extending the open arms. I'd love to be a part of the woods' gang here but, right now, it's not meant to be.

Best deal I ever made. Took the gator for its first oil change & left with the Wood. Gives me all the comforts (& then some) for a family vehicle but the vallets park it close by so they can look at it every time they go out.

Ever after having mine 1 1/2 years, it never fails to turn heads EVERY time I take it out of the garage and dust it off.

You can always get one later. They will get more rare as people wreck them, etc., but I don't see the value/cost really changing one way or the other. Heck, I think that they are worth more acutally in pieces, based on the prices for parts that I have seen on eBay!!!

I enjoy playing with my 401K. I have gotten very aggressive lately and it seems to be paying off (so far). But I am in it for the long haul, so I am fairly certain that it will do OK in the end regardless of fluctuations.

Funny you should mention the ROTH IRA. I am starting one of those this weekend after talking to my financial advisor.

I list the BW as clear title asset, but it is NOT liquid! I am keeping mine forever, so the actual value to others means little to me. I love my truck and feel fortunate to have it.
