Talking Milestones

I just rolled 5000 mile in my Wood last night. I was so excited! It was very hard to watch the road & not the counter, but I did the right thing since we had just had another snow dump.

Thumbs up

Today I have had my WOOD 7 months and turned 5000 miles and
took it in for maintenance.
Still have had no trouble with anything.

Wow, I have had my Blackwood for 5 days and already have 1,000 miles on it. This is one great truck. The more I drive it, the better I like it.

Well, so far I am still a bit ahead at 11,600 miles but if Utah keeps going I dwill soon fall behind.

777, that was a really interesting clip, but a bit fuzzy. Any better/more of that truck? Looks like chrome wheels and some sort of extra chrome on the front.

Bling is good, more Bling is better Bill

Thanks for the link

Hey 777!!
I will definitely do the grille, still thinking about the steps.
They also advertise stainless wheel opening trim which I have always liked. I am sure they can do the fronts OK, but I think the Woods have a different radius/thickness compared to the Supercrew on the rear.

Has anyone come across a wood trim kit for the interior of the Wood? I know there are several rather nice kits out there for the Gator but as far as I know our interiors are sort of cobbled up from a combo of the Gator and the HD Supercrew. I assume our wood trim is "Wenge Wood" or an applique thereof like the bed sides so a Gator version may not be the same style of wood.
But, as I have said here or elsewhere, I sure would like to finish out the rest of the front cabin area as well as the rear of the console with wood trim. One of the few disappointments I have with the otherwise first class interior appointments is the couple of acres, it seems, of black/grey plastic that could have been treated to a wood applique or overlay.

On another note, I am about to do my cat back dual system and I have decided if it is possible or practical I want to have twin pipe outlets on each side (4 in total). I have been fighting the Borla and Bassani web sites for half an hour and cannot find there what I see in print adverts in the various enthusiast magazines.
Essentially, I am looking for a Ferrari/Lamborghini look for the exhaust tips with the two dual pipe outlets equally spaced coming out under the rear bumper. If anyone here has any ideas, please feel free to pass them on.
Bill

The wood on the bed is an aplique (sp). I had my sister (she works at a body shop) check on it for me for future uses (racing helmet, other interior changes). We didn't go as far as pricing & how it was available (sheets?), but if you like I can check into it.

BTW Bill, did you get the chip in? Sue Lightning was asking us about the programs & our ram air set up. One of their local dealers wants to mod the ones they have on the lot to try &get them to sell.

Hi Katy:

Sorry about the chip, it is still sitting on the desk next to me.
I am one of those that likes to do as much at one time as possible and this is why I have been hacking around all over the place to get an air filter. I have the basic exhaust worked out and a place to get it done but I am having a hell of a time getting the filter I want.

I do not know what you guys have in mind but may I say once again I am looking for a direct replacement for the stock air box and filter that looks just like the banner ads here on f150online which could be either Airraid or Airforce One. It must be an open, conical filter that bolts on using more or less stock hardware and be able to accept the air sensor just as the original. Frankly, any good brand is OK, I don't have any hangups there.
If you guys have something like this let me know and I will order one from you.
Spring is here in GA and I am anxious to get going on both performance and Bling mods

Well since spring isn't here yet up here we haven't even thought about going outside. I know that the box is going to fit in the Wood but I think the boot is the problem, something about going from a round opening to an oval one? Maybe once the temp gets over 35 (consecutively) we'll get out there to play w/our toys.

Robert did burn a chip for my Wood, but then it got frigid so it's sitting around on the desk as well.

bill,

katy has a jlp ram air box that she wants to use. but the problem w/ that is its not a direct replacement for the wood. the dilema i'm having is its cold as hell here -12 last night. i do have something in mind, its just i haven't had the oppertunity to get out their and fabricate what i want to do. so if you find something that works dont hesitate on our account.

Nope, mine was way before yours (ok so it was like 10 minutes). You probably6 just clicked the reply button then went to get more pop & play w/the dog before typing. Shouldn't you be sleeping anyways?

(Sorry Bill I couldn't resist picking on him)

Both of you:

Sounds exactly like me tonight. I had a reply halfway done when the tow truck operator arrived to take away Pat's 02 Conti. I had been promised he would be here by 12:00 and he got here at 5:00 due to a nasty several car accident that he had to cover. Interestingly enough, the major causor/causee of the accident was a lady in a brand new Blackwood (according to the tow guy) who got only 4 miles from the dealership where her husband had just payed cash for the truck. He said the RF tire was buried in the pass side door and the truck was a total. Since he took it to a Ford dealership, it may have been a SuperCrew instead of a Blackwood but then I am not sure if the other Lincoln store on this side of Atlanta has a body shop. Mine does not. Pat's car, by the way just ate a battery after we had been travelling for almost two weeks with the car sitting in the garage. Same thing happened with her '98 Conti. At least Lincoln covers the towing and 80% of the battery cost.

To the filter question, I will probably continue to pursue the two vendors I have already contacted as you guys seem to be a bit far away from "production". I have never been **** about "I need it today" but I would like to get on with the project.

I did order today the upper and lower stainless grilles from the local distributor of J&J Enterprises and hope to see them in a week or so. Kind of spendy, $570 including tax, but it looks like it will really dress up the truck. The running boards that are shown in the pic that 777 posted run about $680 and I took a pass on them for the moment. As I suspected, they do not offer a front and rear set of wheel arch mouldings so I will have to continue to look for those items.

Katy, I would appreciate it if you would pursue the applique or whatever it turns out to be, Wenge Wood. I will bet Lincoln or the bed manufacturer have some/a lot left over as the production run was about 1/4 of what was originally planned. Could be good to have some available for our own repairs as well as
to finish dressing up our interiors. I looked at the truck quite closely tonight and I cannot determine if they used the same applique technique on the interior bits and pieces that they used on the bed. Maybe you can find out.

Lets stay in touch.
Bill
