Post Good Price Today for a Blackwood

I realize some or most people here paid the older price for their Blackwood. I am looking to buy one myself and am curious as to what a good dealer price is for a 2002 Blackwood with Nav might be? I have one dealer telling me $39,900.00 and will give me 20400.00 for my 2002 Subaru Forester. Which is about Bluebook dealer trade.

My Forester

Another dealer is telling me $38,495 via e-mail without even seeing me. So there must be some room. Also, the first dealer is saying that these will go to auction on Jan. 2 and loose the Ford incentives? I think that is just to pressure me to buy now as I said I could wait till after winter for the Blackwood.

I really like the truck. It has just enough room for what I would need it to do. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

PS. I was able to put the truck in gear and move a few feet with the cover open. What are anyone's experience with driving with the cover open?

You should be able to find them for a decent price now, I know my hubby said they had liek 3 on the Ford "B" lot a month ago (after we leased ours at normal A Plan price). Where are you located?

As far as the lid, I haven't driven with it open, but I would guess it drives like you have a door open since it recognizes it as a door. The dome light will stay on, along with the door ajar light.

I am outside Philly. I just did a little calling and I had one dealer tell me 37,000 over the phone. The online inventory states it as with NAV.

Driving with the cover open would only from be for very short distances like bring something home so I am just curious.

Thanks

I don't have time to check it right now, but I thought I read in the owner's manual that you "could" not drive the vehicle with the lid up and the doors open. Might be wrong, but I am pretty sure you cannot open/close the lid when the vehicle is in gear.

The other issue I would be wary of is that this piece of engineering, the lid/door combo, is the most "challenged" of the engineering changes made to make a Blackwood out of a SuperCrew. It is my understanding that this was the biggest reason the vehicle was so late compared to it's original planned delivery date. Second biggest reason was how to handle the Wenge Wood which evolved into a "photo image" of Wenge Wood.

Understand, this is the coolest truck I think I have ever owned and I love it, but given the technical expertise of the Lincoln service department I am dealing with I am a bit paranoid about doing anything that may result in mis-alignment of the lid and/or doors. Hitting a pothole at speed with the lid half open, which can happen in Philly, might could cause a major headache.

Look on the bright side. The prices of December are better than the prices of May when I leased mine. No regrets, I got a heck of a deal and they met the price I wanted. Buy a decent trailer for a thousand bucks and haul whatever you want and don't have the hassle of worrying if you are going to damage the bordello lights. the boardroom carpeting and the brushed trim strips. Again, I don't want to go down to the garage and read the owner's manual, but I think I remember the Wood is rated to tow about 8.000 lbs. That's a hell of a lot of plywood.
Hadn't used that smilie yet

Thanks for the follow up Bill Murray.

If anyone is interested? I went to another Lincoln dealer and their price is 36,800 but will only give me around 16,500 for my trade. That tells me where the other dealer is getting 20,000 for my trade and keeping the Blackwood price at 39,990. If I can sell my car on my own I should get much more money (as always is the case) and the other dealer will still sell me the Blackwood for 36,800. So that's what I am shooting for.

We are now promoting buy a BW get a Mercury Cougar free, but you have to pay list price on the Wood. My D=plan price is around $33k right now, we have 15 Woods on our lot as I type. Looks like Ford might shave the price again after the new year, then I will purchase one.

Bill, interesting that you mention the lids on the BW, they are hand fabricated and then put on after assy on the line. We had one for over a month waiting on parts. One of the sensors went bed, the bed would close then open. I really wouldn't worry about the alignment, just pray the sensors don't go bad. GEtting the sensors was not the problem, getting the clips that retain the trim tray on the underneath of the cover was the delay. My tech finally fabricated his own clips so the customer could finally get his truck back. Truth be known, the tech put the truck back together better than the factory built it.

FREE Cougar

I also got a deal where they clear coat and buff scratches on my BW every year for 3 years and come out and fix my windshield 4x/yr if I get dings or cracks in it, as well as reconditioning the leather seats once per year for 3 years. All this for 499.00... which was the employee price for this package. I got the same for the Cougar was well. So I'll have the BW and Cougar looking sharp as the day I got it.... Talk to them about that. - Grateful Dread
