From what i have heard from other threads, many recommend the herbs washers and camber kit after lowering trucks. I had lowered my 97' f-150, and when i got it aligned they had to get the camber kit. Not sure if it included the herbs washers, haven't had to use them yet, but i have heard the help. i think the herbs washers are for the clunk sound, and the camber kit is for the alignment of lowered L's. hey, another question back at you, are the caltracs similar to other traction bars??? i have been thinking of getting some bars too. I have a pinion snubber, not sure if bars would be over kill. greg

The Caltracs mount on the front of the rear leaf spring and the other end mounts to the rearend housing via u bolts. Do a search for Caltracs. I had a question about them last week and ICULOKIN posted a few pics for me.

I'll let you know how they work on Monday when I take the truck in for an alignment. I still gotta do my FT valve body/deep pan, JL ram air, and six pound lower. I did my 2 pound upper last week. I haven't had time to test that yet.

Thanks Vinnie. That's just what I was looking for. Of course this is Hawaii, so when I ask for that they will say, It's not in stock right now, we can order it for you. It should be here in four to six weeks. God I hate this place.

I had my Lightning Alignment done at "Island Brake and Alignment" in Pearl City phone #488-6521. That shop is the only place I could get my truck Aligned due to how low it is and that they have a special computerized 4 wheel Alignment machine and a special rack for lowered vehicles and they were extra careful with my Lightning they give a print out of the Alignment in case you go for a Reconstruction Permit which I did. I think they sell the Cambra Kit for Alignment there. That is where I took my Lightning for Alignment after I lowered my Lightning with the Bell Tech 3/4 and 2 inch Western Chassis A-arms. Where were you planning to have your Lightning Aligned??? Call around there are only maybe 2 shops that will Align lowered Vehicles, "Island Brake and Alignment" and "Pacfic Automotive Toys".

DJY1, Island brake and alignment was where I was gonna take my truck since it's like thirty seconds from my house. What did it cost you to get alignment done with the camber kit?

dirtchicken, It cost me around $125. Island Brake and Alignment did the Alignment 1 more time about 6 months after the First Alignment because the the Bell Tech 3 inch Coils settled. I thought it was expsense at first but all in all it was worth it because they did the other Alignment for free it was cool how they took care of the other Alignment even though the coils were not there fault.

I forgot if you are having the famous Clunk in the front end you should take your L. to the dealer before you go and lower your L. because once you lower your L. you will have no warranty on the suspension on your L. Another thing if the dealers in Hawaii see all the after market mods they will not honor the factory warranty. It is happening to a friend Jon with the Black L. with NOS. right now.

DJY1, just curious where you got your new endlinks from? I think Rons might have the front ones I need, bit I'm not sure about the rear ones. I know some guys here have just cut and welded theirs. My roomate has a small Lincoln 110v welder. I could probably use that.

$125.00 isn't to bad considering the cost of the alignement kit and installation. I just had my Naviagtor aligned and it was about $110.00 for everything. Next time you go in for an alignment it will only be about $40.00 because you will already have the camber kit installed. From what I've been told, the f150 series of vehicles don't have an adjustable camber from the factory, so if it's out of alignment then you need to have the camber kit installed so that it can be brought back into spec.

DJY1,

It's against the law to void a warranty for aftermarket or performance parts being used, unless they are associated with the repair. For example. I lowered my vehicle and I brought my vehicle in for a fuel injector problem. They can't deny warranty on the repair, as a lowered suspension would have nothing to do with the the fuel injection system. The Magnunson Moss-Warranty Act was put in place to protect the consumer from this happening. Now if the repair is associated with a mod, then they can deny it.

Navi Man, I understand what you are saying!!! Say you added to your Navi bigger injectors, bigger throttle body the dealer doesn't have honor your fuel injecton problem if they don't want to. Right! I was just trying to explain to dirtchicken, if you did own a Lightning there is a front end clunk problem and dirtchicken could get it fixed free before he lowers his truck.

Isn't this the Lightning Message Board not the Expedtion-Navigator message board.
