This if for the Street Scenes grille inserts from Sport Truck Direct's site. If you'll notice the part # for the '02 and '03 L is listed as different from that of the '01. Aren't the '01-'03 grilles the same?

 

if I remember right, something about the thickness of the plastic in the front changed...not a huge noticible thing, but enough to make grilles not interchangible.

Ouch. You have to modify the '99-'00 part to make it fit an '01 or you don't get one I guess. 'Cause, if it's not the same as the '02-'03, the '01 apparently doesn't have one to fit it directly. That sucks.

 

I just put one on my 2001. While I really think it looks great, I think for the $200.00 I paid for some stamped aluminium that Street Scene could at least make them fit.
I had to bend the upper a bunch and right in the middle of the upper one of the triangles seems to be missing..there is a gaping hole. I plan to cantact them Monday and see if they'll make it right. Possibly it was cut to fit over the factory grille insert primarily. The directions stated you could leave it or remove it. I chose to remove the factory inserts. I have seen one with the SS grille installed over the factory piece and it looks tacky...to me anyway. The bottom piece fit much better than the top. Do yourself a favor and put some masking tape over the surround before you stab it in. I did'nt and nicked mine in a couple places.....Looks great..but upon close inspection the tie wraps are visible.
I have seen another grille with similar design pattern made by another I just can't think of the name at the moment.

I put them on mine 99 L. They look good, but the fit is horrible. I had to bend both of the grilles to get them to fit. Those little clips did not fit. On the main grille, I put a bolt behind the Ford emblem through the OE grille to hold the SS grille in place.

 

Ya my buddies fits also like Chit........ But they sure are nice looking..

I bought a set of Speed Grille's for my 01 that where listed for 99/00 Lightnings and the fit was way off. I sent them back to JC Whitney and re-ordered using the part #'s that where given to me by Street Scene themselves (1-888-477-0707)
The new grille's fit like a glove and they where listed for 2001-2002 Lightnings:
Ford F-150 Lightning 2001-2002 Main Grille 950-77719
Ford F-150 Lightning 2001-2002 Valance Grille Insert 950-77729
