6-speed????

Now I got one, I thought Ford didn’t have a strong enough 6-speed transmission for the Lightning but the Cobra has more horse power and it has a 6-speed?

I think weight and torque are your two big factors.

The Lightning still has more Torque i dont think it was so much the 6 speed, i think its more of a clutch issue

Wink

It may be a H.P./ torque to weight ratio thing, the Lightning is a Heavy brick. It would be a little rough on the poor clutch dumping it at 3500 rpm's with a truck weighing in at almost 5000 lbs.

You would probably end up breaking the tires loose a lot more that you would want to.

Plus, have you ever driven a F-150 5-speed... the throw is so long that it takes forever to shift.

Hehe...I had a 74 Chevy with a nice 350 and a 4spd. You just about had to pass the shifter to the passenger going into 4th!

This is one of the reasons Iam hopein to see the big-bad dodge with the V-10 6 speed on the streets. No way it will be able to come out of the hole, unless it's got BIG meats on the rear, and SHIFTING will be a big concern
