The Sony Cybershots are nice. I've used both the 2 and 3 megapixel ones and they take very nice pics with plenty of options. I have the DSC-71 model which was 300.00 and another 65.00 for 64 MB memory card (only came with 16) and the 30.00 for the rechargable batteries. I really like it.

How do all of your guys' cameras take pics at night??? My kodak 4800 is one of the worst for nighttime pics!!! They look horrible...
Any suggestions for nighttime use as well as daytime???

Dude, I have a sony CD MAVICA, 1 mini cd-r or cd-rw takes 600 pics, or 90 minutes of MPEG. Super clear pics and close-up. Plus it has the little orage "pre-pic" light, so it can focus accuate pics in the dark. I paid like 650, but I'm sure its less now.

I think I'm going with the Sony DSC-F717. It's the 5 mega pixle with carl zeiss lense. (I think you can add tele-photo lenses to it) The price is a bit much ($999) but has a tone of options. That or the Olympus E10 or E20

i just bought (christmas gift) a f707 which is the previous model that is actually 5.2 mega-pixel effective and it has identical features for $799 (www.compusa.com) and we bought their warranty plan so if it breaks they fix it or replace it ($50)

Canon or Nikon

They consistantly have the best color and clearity in their pixel class from the reviews I have read. I have a Canon G1 (3.2 mp), and it takes great shots. They are now up to the G3, and Nikon has several new cameras out also.

Good Luck,
Mark

I just picked up an HP 850 for $500 Circuit City, 4Mpixel but the best bet is the 8X optical zoom (has 6X digital zoom on top of that). Works like a champ and the zoom is great for outdoors.
Good Luck -

Canon S200, super small, easily fits in a pocket, even in it's case. I'd think for a female a small camera that would fit in a purse would be important. Most women won't be as concerned about all the power bells and whistles as convenience.

I have the Canon and a Sony Mavica. The Sony is best for outdoor pics, the Canon can't be beat for everyday use though.
