Lenntech is working on a t-brake. You'd need a chrome-moly drive shaft, aftermarket axels, a locker, and a tire and suspension to handle it. And, say you've got a 2400 stall, than the highest you can launch is 2400 rpm. It's not really an advantage unless you go with a looser race converter.

i don't think thats all necessarily true,

the main point of a transbrake is 2 things,
1) reaction time
2) to launch at the same rpm everytime

in my cobra, the car launched at 6000 rpms, thats because it was where the peak power was and hp outweighed torque.

the peak torque in these trucks is on the lower end, the trucks are stalled at around 2500 for this reason. If it was beneficial to have a higher stall, people would be using them.

also, with the 9.75 rear end, i don't think axles would be needed either, i had an 8.8 rear end that held up fine.

guys that are cutting these low 1.5 60's already have good suspensions or they wouldn't be cutting those times,

i cut a 1.60 on a stock convertor myself as a best and that is with only traction bars, i also weigh in over 4800 lbs

Stall speed doesn't affect what rpm you launch at with a transbrake. Considering the weight of our vehicles and the power they make .......you might end up calling it a Trans BREAK..

I have seen Johnnys truck pull tires with ease on sum occasions... and I am sure a few other members can attest to seeing it also.... And I also saw sals truck almost hop off the ground on the same day!!!!! I was very impressed to say the least!!!!!
This was my face when I saw johnnys truck do it...
and that was when he was running 10.90s...

you gotta figure,

johnnies
10.9's at 4400 lbs would be the equiv power to 9.7's in a 3200 lb car

sals 10.4 at 4800 lbs would be pushing close to an 9 flat in a 3200 lb car

these trucks are making nasty power!

I've built some experiments and sold one for a Gen1 to a guy for whom money was no object, but I don't recommend it. The tranny can be made to handle it, not a big problem, just an expensive one. I worry that you'd break other things, drive shafts, rear ends, lug nuts etc... these things are wicked with torque and just plain heavy, a bad combo for a trans brake.

Gosh Damn...lug nutz...no no no..not the stud....the actual lugNUT. I must admit that I would be proud to have enough torque to break lug nuts.

Talking How about this for a coversation

Lightning Fan: Nice truck you have there.

Me: Thanks

Lightning Fan: What kinda times does it run?

Me: Don't know. I can't keep tires on it.

Lightning Fan: Ahh, they just get blown away huh? Melt down to nothin'.

Me: No. I actually cant keep the tires on the truck. Whenever I mash the gas it breaks the lug nuts off!!!

Lightning Fan: I have got to get me on of dem trucks

sorry I just couldn't help myself.
