Stock box questions

I was recently thinking about doing the stock airbox mod with a dropin K&N and was curious as to how many holes I should put in and if there is a certain area I should place them. Also would it be more benificial for me to run a air duct tube in the front grill with one larger hole in the box as opposed to several smaller holes. I Would like to have some opinions as i am not interested in introducting hot air into the airbox. I live in phoenix an would like to get the coolest air possible while just modding the stock box. Any suggestion appreciated

best thing to do is run a search and see what other people have done. 2 inch flex hose from home depot would work fine, i think thats what most people use, i think i even saw someone take out their fog lamps and led the hoses to the fog lamp holes

search only pulled 2 results and there is no direct write up. Or I'm just to tired to try and figure it out. anyone else have Idea's I'm am into the flex hose idea but am curious to where to mount the hose and how they sealed the hole in the bottom of the box. And detaile instructions would be helpful

throw the bottom of the air box in the garage, and use two really long zip ties to hold the k&n filter to the top.

This is a step by step intake that you can make for $60.

Or you can just do what I did.
It made a noticable improvement.

In the previous picture, I cut out that entore area with a hacksaw and then ground the edges with a small grinder. Good modification!

I used a drill bit similar to the one in this picture

It worked out great and made perfectly circular holes. I made 7 holes with a 1" bit and it only took about 10 minutes to do the whole thing. After I cut the holes I removed the shavings and smoothed them with a curved dry wall knife. Piece of cake!

Cut out the entire area that I have outlined in yellow below. This will open the bottom of the box up, while still allowing you to use the retaining clips to attach the top and bottom pieces together. In addition, the bar across the middle will have the 2 plugs on the bottom to hold the box into place like it was originally. This looks a little more factory than just removing the bottom completely.
