Who makes this converter

I recently purchased a used 01 Lightning from a dealer. It appears to have an aftermarket torque converter installed that stalls at approximatly 2400 rpm. I know the factory converters are usually not painted. This one is painted black and has white writing on it that says H/Lightning. I would like to know what brand this is. I know that PI's are usually a pink color from all the ones I've seen. Any ideas??

Protorque paints their TC's black. The usually put a stick on them not writing with a paint marker. Maybe who ever installed it wrote that on it>??? The stickers fall off sometimes also or they just don't get one. They make a good converter though! -Mat-

It may be an Art Carr. The Art Carrs stall at 2400 and I believe they are black.

I'd say you are lucky to not have purchased a truck with an Art Carr torque converter. I purchased my 2400 stall Art Carr from LFP this summer and it stalled at 3800. Any converter is better than the Art Carr torque converter and any tuner is better than LFP. Why? Because another vendor would have given me a refund. Yes, LFP sold me a converter which did not stall at the advertised rpm then won't give me a refund. He is a cheat and a scoundrel.

p.s. I didn't start this someone else brought it up.

No one had brought up LFP at all. Just because people are talking about stall convertors doesn't mean they care about one incident that involved you regarding a tuner and that product, so until you are directly asked about your experience again, maybe you should just zip it. Every post I see you post you always sneak in a stab at Mark. Everyone has heard your point, thought what they wanted of it, and moved on. You should too.

This is the biggest Lightning web site. New people join everyday.
I replied to the topic because of your post. You said the Art Carr stalls at 2400 rpm. You are obviously incorrect. I suppose I could have left out any reference to LFP, but people may think I was refering to another vendor and I don't want to leave the impression that another vendor was less than honorable.

I haven't started any threads bashing LFP. I will reply to a thread if I believe it contains false information or if someone brings up my name(both of which occured in this thread).

Check with the previous owner, he knows. You know who he is, if not I do.

I found out the brand after I posted the question....It's a Circle D 2400 rpm stall. One I havent heard of and I know nothing about the company. Anyone else have any input? I dont have any complaints and it seems to stall right on the money.
