flowmasters, please help!

Ok, I can't get an answer out of anyone. I don't want the "I like this exhaust so get this," or "bassani is #1" crap. I'm just looking for the truth. Is there a real problem with flowmaster mufflers on our trucks? Truthfully, flowmaster is the only sounding exhaust that I have ever actually liked, its the only "big block" souding exhaust out there! I'm hoping some tuners can chime in on this and finally settle this issue!

Well I've always heard that you lose low end torque with flowmasters. BUT I had them on my Stang and I had plenty of torque.

Take advise with a grain of salt.
Maybe there is someone out there with Flows on their truck that can chime in.

I had them on my 99 stang also, but its kind of a different case since it was only a GT and wasnt blown. I still noticed a gain then, so whats the deal with our trucks?!?!

Yes, that Quad is a monster. I love it's agressive stance and no bullsh*t way of popping a wheelie in fifth gear. It's one of my many hobbies.

I am what you call a "Jack of all trades and a master of none"

Mechanic, plumber, Carpenter, Electrician, R/C Racer, MotorCross Lover, Telecommunications Network Manager and Wife Lover. I can do it all. (My-wife, of course)

There was a time when I would have parted with her,(the quad) but she needs a little work and i couldn't get what I thought she is worth to me, so I just decided to keep her and fix the few things it needs.

I liked my FlowMaster's while I had them. Sounded good and didn't lose any noticeable HP or TQ. SOTP of course, no "tested" data. For the $$$ FlowMaster sounded good and performed well.

I've since gone with a full exhaust system and haven't looked back. Is there any gain with it, sure(minimal for $). Is there any loss, yeah in the wallet area.
"Gotta Pay to"... You know the rest. lol

Later...
Bruce

I've got the dual inlet-dual outlet Flowmaster on my truck, it was on there when I got the truck. I like the sound, it's pretty loud and has a nice low burble at idle. crackles when you drop it down and let off the gas too. with my 6# lower I'm not worried about losing a little low end tq. it does drone a little on the hiway at ~75 mph, but i like to hear the motor anyway

Bassani, Borla, Edelbrock, and Magnaflow flow the best. But as was mentioned for little gain if any it probably dosn't matter on our L's.

You asked.

The Flows sound good to me... Like most exhausts i hear about, there is a low rumble at idle, but when your on it, it sounds great!

I think its a disease though, I always want louder....I just can't see coughing up $700+ for the Bassani though.

As for performance gains, I couldnt tell ya, there were on it when I bought it. I have gone 13.53 with just the mods in sig.

Hope this helps

Jon

I talked to our dyno guys here in the engine plant they seem to think we lose back pressure during the shift by using the flow masters. However, they felt the flow masters are great sounding and do let the system breath.
I have had my two in two out flow masters for two years now and like them.

Peace, Suavy

so then so far we have very few negatives on the flowmasters. would any of the tuners like to chime in and maybe help us out with some real answers?

I don't see any problem with the flows. I Love them. When I installed them it didn't seem like my truck lost any hp or trq. I have two single in/out. But over the winter I'm going with a custom cat back with X pipe and manga flows and 4in. tips.
