Question for CA lightnings with JDM chipss

Hi all,

If you know what program you're running for street with the current '91 octane, could you please post it here along with the year of your truck?

I'm currently running CUX1 9RC3 E2F and getting some detonation during low RPM high throttle openings (like freeway merges, etc.), especially at night when it's cold and the air is more dense.

I've been trying to get feedback from JDM but they are a little slow (probably due to the holidays).

Thanks,
W

You should be running their J39 program for the street with 91 octane.

Brasil,

I've got a '99 with a bunch of mods and 3.73 gears, so I'm not sure if I can run that program or not, but I appreciate the feedback. Should give me an idea of what to shoot for.

Thanks!
W

No matter what mods you have you should still run the J39 programe tuned for your mods. I also have several mods with this program.

The program numbers are just different "programs" they are not specific to model year. All Gen 2 Lightning's 99-03 can run any JDM program (i.e. J39. J49, J69, J7)

Cool

I've seen quite a few JDM programs numbers. The one thing that I have never seen is a 99-00 and 01-02 run the same program numbers. The J39 and J49/J69 programs that I have seen are only used with 01-02 L's. The 99-00 models all have numbers similar to the one Wheels said he had in the first post plus the LB1 and LB2 programs.

I could be wrong but I have never seen it otherwise.

The PCM is adding timing when the temp gets cooler. I believe this happens when the IAC reads under 50 degrees. I'm not sure how much, though. It's probably 2-3 degrees of advance.

It might be beneficial in the winter months to breath warmer, under hood air? Just a thought.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I think I do have what at the time was a warm weather program and I figured that the colder temps were causing the problems, but just thought that for comparisons sake I would ask and see.

Thanks,
W

Oh, btw, I hope no one thinks I was complaining about JDM's service in ANY way. I was just asking a question.

What you need to do is stop messing with a mail order chip and get yourself on a dyno LOCALLY and get a dyno tune. Otherwise, your headed for disaster. I have heard Sal can get you pretty damn close though.
