Question 5.4 engine question

My wife is wanting me to get rid of the L - #1 we are thinking of starting a family, #2 I tend to get in trouble with it sometimes.
So I'm looking at the F250 superduty supercrew XLT sport with all the goodies. My question is if I get one with the 5.4 can I just purchase one of the aftermarket blowers and get back to where I was hp-wise or are there other mods that would need to be done?

Thanks for any input.

Tom

More to it than that. Forged pistons and rods, lower compression. Look at the new Supercrew H-D or if you need a heavy duty get the V-10 and throw a whipple on it. My F350 had a V-10 and it was nice. No L but did ok.

So the standard tranny in the F250 wouldn't hold up to the power and torque of an L engine?
And they make a whipple to fit the V10? Man, maybe that would be the way to go.

I don't understand......Your contemplating selling the L because #1 your thinking of starting a family, and, #2 you tend to get in "trouble" with the L.
Hmmmm, the way I see it, like, you can't get in trouble with what you want to purchase? Especially with some of the ideas our good buddies are passing along?? Personally, I can still get in trouble driving a daewoo, but it's much more pleasureable with my L. And as far as the family, start a collection of L's(Gen1 and 2) and maybe throw in a 2003 cobra... Believe me, much cheaper in the long run.

Two words: Lower profile. (for Mr. officer and my wife)

p.s. - been doing more research and it looks like the diesel is the way to go - less problems and more mileage.

Im buying a new wrecker in the spring.I originally thought I was going to be stuck with going Chevy because I wanted the latest technology out thre,I wanted alot more power, and I wanted a quiet deisel for repos.I even almost went gas for the sake of Repos but mileage and longevity are MORE important when you are spending $60k+ Biggest problem I ran into was Chevy only goes up to 12,000 gvws on 4wd cab/chassis.

To my suprise a 6.0 powerstroke appears with More power(like over 300hp) than duramax, and almost as quiet.Fords makes twice the truck chevy does for less money and GVW on 4wds are up to 17,500 GVW on the f550 cab/chassis.How can I go wrong.

Ill end up with a f550 with scary power, quiet as a mouse, awesome mileage, awesome resale, and a 17,500GVW (which is enough to tow my big ramp truck on short distances.)God knows that truck2000(f650xlt) is a pain in the ****.....It has a 7.3 powerstroke with dual tanks that likes to run itself out of fuel and cost me fortunes on calling a bigger tow company.

Anyway, what you need to do is get the new 6.0.I heard somebody had one at a track and ran a 14.9ET woth a f350!!!!!
The only thing I heard bad was they have an egr valve which is a no no on deisels.

So do you ever get any wack jobs chasing you down the street when you take their BMW sitting on 22" rims>??? HaHa.

Oh by the way I don't think anyone saw one at the track since they are not out yet. No flames. I also could be wrong but am pretty sure. Goodluck with the new truck and stay safe. -Mat-

I know ther was a "deisel" at the track. The person didnt know if it was a ford or chevy(duramax) but they were sure it did a 14.9.I dunno if it was chipped or not or anything about it ,I do know it was brand new with windo sticker/deisel motor......

And no,On the repos, its for a loan place where they give you $$ on your car titles. Most of them arent worth more than a couple of grand......
