Sal's Hood

Kind of like the way cowl induction hoods look, but most are a little too "humpy". Sal's looks just right, figures it would be one of a kind.

Pawn, who's hood is that you posted?

Yeah, well d*%mn

Rob_02,

Thanks for the info. Nice design, unfortunately for me, not to many custom body shops here in Valdez. Guess I could see what someone could do in Anchorage.

Mark, it's actually not as hard for a bodyshop to do as you'd think. My hood is simply a Cervini cowl, that had the scoop built in. I wanted something that nobody else had, so the truck would stand out. I was going for that 99 Mustang hood look, with the sunk in scoop. Now there are a few places making similar versions (after I called every manufacturer in the world and nobody wanted to do it).

Hey Daniel, who makes the hood you posted? It doesn't look like the other one I've seen that out now with the narrow center.

Cool

Sal,

The hood is made by Fiberglass Fabricators Inc. in Chattanooga, TN. The original version that you see on my truck above had a nonfunctional front scoop. They sell them on Ebay all the time. Everybody that called about the hood wanted to know if the front scoop was functional. I was telling Jerome at fiberglass fab that he really needed to make the front scoop funtional and that I would help him with deminsions for the airbox location. He opened up the front hole and molded the wire mesh into the backside of the fiberglass. The pic of the gray bottom is the peice they are making the bottom mold off of. The front scoop dumps directly into the tubing so the air maintains velocity all the way to the end of the hole.

The bottom mold is made and my piece was ran yesterday. They will then bond it to the top piece you see in the pics below and hopefully I will have it by Friday. I will let everybody know how it fits. It should be a nice addition to my FastAir for suppling cold air.

BTW, the hood on the black focus prototype in the SVT Enthusiast magazine is a one off they made for SVT.

Cool

Mark,

That is my truck in the pics that Daniel posted. I posted the info about it above. You can get the nonfunctional front scoop model on Ebay. I will have the first one with a functional front scoop by the end of this week or the beginning of next week. I will post pics of it when it's on the truck.

Sal,

They sell a lot of civic hoods through NOPI. They would rather make them and not have to worry so much about marketing them from what I understand. So, they are open to retailers selling their hoods. Like I said I will let everyone know how it fits and looks when I get it.
