Stereo head unit from Navigator
Stereo head unit from Navigator
Do you guys know if head unit from Navigator will work in L. I heard that this unit is made with Alpine.Any oy guys noticed diffrent sound or power..
odds are it sounds like crap, but it should take the same wiring harness if that is what you are talking about, i'm not sure about the dimensions though. To my knowledge Ford uses the same wiring harness on most truck/suv's, a prime example is I'm still using the same wiring harness adapter for my Alpine that I used in my 2000 Ranger.

you will have to cut some plastic (take a sawzall blade in a pair of vice grips) inside the dash to make it fit but the navigator we had and now the blackwood both had the alpine stereo while it is the best sounding stock radio i have heard in a ford, ITS STILL A STOCK RADIO. if you have access to one try it but i wouldn't run out and buy one when you have so many aftermarket options out their and you can use a dash kit and use any size radio so you dont need to get a double din size radio. one thing though it will work w/ the changer and the automatic sound level adjust and had a connection so you can run an amp for a sub (not sure if it is pre-amp or like a standard output like say a 5th channel thats amplified in the radio)
i have a radio from a mountaineer in mine it has cd and cassette in dash and still controls the changer

If it's a 99 or newer, then it should fit. They both take the same install kit for an aftermarket deck, so I would assume the factory deck would also fit. The only problem you might have is that the Navigator has the premium sound system which includes factory amplifiers. If the L doesn't have a premium sound system then it may not work properly without the factory amps.
I wouldn't get to hung up on the name Alpine. They just build the deck to Ford specs. It won't be like their aftermarket units. You would be way ahead to purchase a quality aftermarket headunit so that you will have more flexibility and pre amp outputs.
