Check out my battery relo box

Had to show this off. Spent about ten hours on it. Need some positive reinforcement from the Lightning gurus.

The box will be mounted under the bed on passenger side just in front of the shock mount. The aluminum panels are the side panels from the Summit battery box (Optima much smaller than the stock Group 27). Master disconnect will be in trailer hitch hole (the Moroso switch is a perfect fit). Using the side terminals only.

Tim, that looks sweet. The only thing that concerns me is where the box goes around the top posts. Even though you aren't using them, I think it's a little dangerous. If the truck ever took a shot, I think that top panel would easily cut through whatever you are going to use to isolate the top posts and short out, causing a possible electrical fire hazzard. I would either make the holes around the terminals much larger, or even make the top panel an open box frame. Just my .02 though. Looks good .

I hear you, Sal. I'm going to bore them out a little more and put some large rubber grommets around the holes. The bolts on the top and bottom panels keep front-to-back movement to a minimum, but a REAL hard shot might do it. Then again, if I take a shot that hard, the box will probably tear loose from the bed anyway--and a blown main fuse will be the least of my problems.

"There is no such thing as an original idea."

I copy everything from somewhere. It may be a bit from here and a bit from there, but it's rarely my idea. Got this idea by starting with the Optima billet holders mounted upside down, comparing with Ruslow's mount, and staring at the way-too-large Summit box.

I am taking photos as I go and will post to my Web site when done (probably a couple of weeks until it's all wired up).
