Does your bugsheild scratch your grille?

I have a VentShade BugFlector II, and it is leaving some scuff marks in the paint on the top of my grille. This is only noticable when you raise the hood, but never the less plain irritating. I have tried thin pads to eliminate the wear to no avail. Anyone have a suggestion besides "removing the bugshield"?

A Bug Shield On A Lightning?
That's like putting a glass barrier around your bug zapper, useless! Kill them bugs, and wash your truck once in a while dude.....

Mine scrapes the top of the grill as well, and by the way it looks great...It was after the fact for me but a body shop guy told me you can adjust the hood slightly up using the hood adjusters on each side. Hope it helps. (Also, i touch up the scrapes with touch up paint)

Thumbs up

I had the same problem but solved it by using my rotary tool to grind off the corners that were touching the shell. Also could adjust the hood stops up a bit.---Jim

I always ask for bug deflectors as part of the deal they really save the paint from rocks, flying bottles from mad drivers, sticks, etc. There was a little scratching on my true blue it was a lowprofile ford deflector, but Freedom ford put some aftermarket one on my 01 Lariat S/C and it scratched the hell out of everything. Oh well, that truck was a lemon from day one

Mine doesn't scratch, because I don't have one.

just went and checked mine....could tell under the bugflector (top of the hood where it "folds" over) but underneath and above the grille insert i couldnt see any scuffs. and yes i have the same brand ventshade bugflector II.

when you installed it did you put on those little clear rubber buttons on your hood to keep it from rubbing against the hood?

btw, i like my bugflector and it has kept lots of potential scratches off from highway driving, etc not to mention all the bugs in the summer/fall...

hehe

funny you mentioned this. Mine was doing it so i filed it down and used some touch up paint. Left the hood closed but not locked down to dry. Well the next day I went out and was going down the highway when this guy pulled up on me in a brand new viper. We gave it kind of a cat and mouse game then he came after me good. Next thing i know i look and my hood was vibrating like a bastard. I let off and pulled off the highway. I almost **** when i saw it. I forgot to shut it all the way. That could have been a mess, never mind a major embarassment!!!
