After seeing Rob gs blower.....
I tip my hat to him cause let me tell ya polishing this piece is work. Here's a shot of where i've been the past couple nights and some of the things involved. Now that he beat me to it,i'm gonna have to do it a little diferent, any thoughts? The rotor spout was being fully sanded in this picture for polish. How about brushed and clearcoated?
chimshady1,
Like silver-bolt said. It's Mr. Mike Phillips that did the work, all I did was send him a check. I'm polishing other engine bay pieces myself and I can vouch for what a job it is to polish something like a supercharger. It's a long and tedious project.
Mike's done more than one, check out TampaSVT's gallery for more supercharger brightness

I'd almost rather powder coat mine body color... just to be different.
You are a lot more patient than me... that polishing thing kills my neck...

Polishing, also traps the heat in,i polished mine last winter and my blower case is a lot hotter after a 30 minute cool down than all the others at the track, right after there run.
Evidently, the blower is sold with pourous casing so that the heat can dissapate easier, and polishing it,of course smooths and fills the metal, leaving the unwanted heat inside of the intake, snout and casing.
Anyone, who is into racing, especially brackets, should forget about polishing your blower, and learn from others mistakes imho.
Maybe a few tip on the blower polishing. The first thing to do is to disassemble the S/C and that includes the snout too. Trying to polish around the pulley of even leaving the rotor pack attached is a killer. A little trick in trying to remove the paint is to use a high quality striper and a sun lamp to keep the parts warm so that the striper will work. Not to close with the lamp or you will become a believer in spontaneous combustion. Once the paint is off you should do a sanding of the case and snout to remove the roughness of the casting. This will aid you in getting a high quality shine when you are polishing a little bit later. Do polished superchargers run hotter? Not really. What you have to remember is that in the polishing process you have actually flattened the surface there by decreasing the surface area from which to radiate heat but that flat surface is great for reflection. One other thing is if you are not very good at polishing and generate too much heat you can actually open up the pores in the aluminum by a tearing action with a dirty wheel. This also happens with a poor quality casting. Why do I like polished items? It looks great. It helps in weight reduction and relieves stress areas in a part if done correctly. And almost everyone thought it was for Bling.
