Roush Drop Questions (already searched)

I have a 2002 I dont know if the Roush kit will work, but I was wondering if anyone has pics of the Roush Drop Kit with the stock shackles in the back. I wanted to see how high the back actually is with this kit installed. I was also wondering how much the kit drops the lightning is it a 2/3 (front/back) or a 3/4 etc? I have read all the posts on the roush set up so far.

I don't have links to the pics of the L's i've seen with the Roush kit on it but I know it fits on a 2k2 L. You'll have to cut the rear bump stops from what Crazyone has told me but that's no biggie. In fact mine should be here anytime and i'll slap her on and i'll be sure to get before/after pics of it

I did a search and there were 672 matches. Many of them have photos.

(bear in mind his rear already had drop shackels)

Thats cliffs before and after,

When mine settled out i was about 2.5 in the front, and 3.5 in the rear, i can't remember exactly but it was a shade over 2/3

It will work on a 02 easily, you can either cut up your stock one and weaken it, or just got pick up a 97-00 f150 bump stop for 13$ at autozone....

so whats the deal on the Roush stuff? On sale now for final Clearance? is this correct? are they not making anymore?

does it improve handling? how does it work at the strip? what is the payload capacity (I don't necessarily need a number, but can you haul stuff for around the house? say a grill or riding mower or some dirt or mulch without bottoming)?

anyone anyone?

No clue.

Yes.

No clue. If it's like the Hotchkis then it makes wieght transfer to back more of pain on launches.

I believe the payload capacity is cut in half. It's much lower due mostly to the reduced suspension travel. With my Hotchkis I can get a couple hundred pounds in the bed before it the truck sits on the rear bump stops. So that's good for most *stuff around the house*.

captainoblivious thank you for your answers.

I wonder still wonder about the "at the track" part though, my hotchkis equipped '01 cut 1.78 60fts with 1.80 being the norm all on F1s. so I think it transfered weight quite well. that is why i'm trying to determine which would be better for my application, the only reservation I have about re-buying the Hotchkis for my '03 truck was the bouncey ride I got at highway speeds. maybe some better shocks would take care of that. but if the roush would work as well or better then I'd certainly go with that setup.

As for only being able to carry "a couple hundred pounds in the bed before it the truck sits on the rear bump stops" that is just not an option. If that was the case, I'd just buy and '03 Cobra and skip the L alltogether. Hell, I probably wouldn't even be able to carry my dog in their after he gets done growing. thats half the reason I want the truck, he won't fit in the Stang!

thanks for the info.

later,
chris

Then you're a better driver them me.

I did notice that when I went to the hotchkis the weight transfer was a little harder, and then when I got the QA1's it improved a little. But I believe most of my problems are due to *I suck at launching*. 1.99 on F1's, best 60ft at E-town.

So you're familier with Hotchkis but considering the Roush. Honestly if I had the money I would consider selling the Hotchkis and getting the Roush. But there are more import things to spend that cash on.I was also considering going back to the stock rear leafs and using Stan's sliders to lower the back. Still thinking about that one.

But one day Dan and I are going to get together and swap trucks so we can see the difference between the 2 kits. The only difference is I have stock swaybars where as he has the Hotchkis ones.

I`ll post my opinions on the Roush kit tonight. Just recived it and will start install. I would think with the springs cutting the load capacity in half that the weight transfer would be almost better.
But then maybe the shocks dampen better. Roush did not have thier front shocks on hand so I will leave the stockers up front till I get the Roush's. Hope they jave enough travel. Tomorrow I instal the Roush pedal's and aan New Speed Grill.
I put in a tranny and oil temp gauge yesterday. Considering a rear end temp soon. Sal's sending me a fast air setup and shaft loop. Then next week a 6 pounder with new programs.

Later Jeff
