Cool Been Fun

Well I've probably checked the Lightning site at least 3 times a week and learned more about my 01L than ever expected. I lived through the oil in the air intake tube, the front clunk, let's not forget the cracking fog lights and of course the ever popular flying plugs. Now don't get me wrong, I love this truck as I did my '94 L. But somehow while going down to Florida last month, I had this thought which came into my mind just after my #3 plug decided to go North by way of Route 95 South. Everything was covered and Ford replaced both heads. Call me a wimp, but I raised the white flag when I got home and sold the L. I went down to Kerbeck Chevy in Allantic City, NJ and took advantage of GM's 0% financing and picked up a 03 Corvette Coupe. I do miss the L. but not the problem of wondering what would come next. I have been a Ford guy for the last 15 years, let's see what comes with being a Vette person, so far, lots of smiles. It's been a fun year watching this forum and I'm sorry I didn't post more.

I feel you pain. My plug launched a few weeks ago, and Ford replaced it under warranty with no hassles. The thought of a vette has crossed my mind a few times as well. I'm gonna hold out a little longer though, I just love the truck to much, though if I launch another plug, it will be time to kick the L to the curb

That's what I'm talking about. At least you're doing it in style! Just watch out for that "Corvette Surcharge". Anything that says"Corvette" or "Fits Corvette", they add that Corvette surcharge

No more $200 Cold Air intakes for you...now they are $600 (including the corvette surcharge of course"

I drove the truck home when I launched the plug and stripped all the parts off. Put the stock plugs back in (except for the one that launched of course) and drove it in. I'm leaving it stock now, not sure if I want to put the parts back on, I'm afraid of it happening again. The plug launched under very little boost.

The mechanic who was taking care of it straight up asked me if I had any parts on it. He said he didnt care as long as I let him know before hand. Well I said no because I didn't, I don't know if he really didn't care or not though.

Ha, good luck keeping the Corvette feeling around. I had a 2000 C5 coupe, which is now gone. Not enough car to keep around after realizing that you can have speed, and carry all your gear also!

Lightning stayed, Vette went bye-bye!

Just A few Answers

Thanks for the LS1.com site heads up. Just another site to drive the wife crazy with. Just to answer a couple questions, my 01L was pretty much stock except for the K&N panel filter I put in after taking the aftermarket air intake off. Noithing for the Ford police to complain about. If you were wondering what I got for my truck, I got $27,400.00 for it and ran. I think that was bad enough since I paid over $32,000.00 for it just a year ago. The truck had just 15,000 miles on it. I will be checking in once and awhile to see how things are going with my favorite truck. After all, This was my second Lightning, the first being a '94 which I had for almost 7 years and it only took 25 minutes to change the deeply seated plugs. By the way, if you live in or around the New Jersey shore, Just let me know and I'll let you have the stock (900 miles) muffler with the tips still on and in great shape. The other stuff like the new fogs and 2 cone filters, I'll sell some how........Gary..... ofcgary@americom.net
