Guys with vette kills reply please...
I have some guy I work with jawwing about his corvette that he has "ordered" for 2003....He is convinced he is going to mop the track with my 01L. So we have a lil date at Rt66 in the spring for a few $$$. Just wondering what kind of times the new vettes are running-stock? Right now Im running just the chip/intake on my lightning and have yet to run any passes at the track. Over this winter--Ill have the 4# lower, with the tranny valve body and maybe a single blade T/B. Am I gonna have any problems with this "mouth" running the way I am now...and if so, what about after the rest of the parts are installed???? Any info would be nice since I get nothing but crap about Z06's and every "anniversary" addition out there when doing searches...thanks again!

Vette kills
Be VERY careful....A friend of mine had a 2000 C5 convertible that ran consistent 13.20's @ almost 105 mph....BONE STOCK...The new ones are a tiny bit faster. Also saw one at Etown with just an air filter and exhaust turning 12.80's @ 109mph...With your future mods you should do fine against him as long as he is stock...Just make sure you get out of the hole without spinning too much, and all he will see is your taillights.....
Good Luck
Good Luck
Then there was the Z06 I ran that ran like 14.2's all day. It depends on the driver, especially if it's a stick vehicle. I'd say make sure you get your launch right, you WILL smoke him out of the hole, but make sure you build the lead up enough because their top end and aero will start to take over quickly after 1/4 mile and/or 100mph

If it is just a C5 vette a Lightning will kick its Butt. If it is a ZO6 you will need a few mods.

Careful. My friend has a 99' C5 6spd with just a cat-back exhaust it ran 12.9 @ 110mph in 65 degree weather. With an intake + the cat-back it ran 12.9 @ 109mph in 80+ degree Florida weather. I have seen this first hand.

I think a lot depends on the driver and the weather conditions. The warmer, humid weather doesn't seem to affect the naturally aspirated Vette as much as the L. Just an observation. No flame, just saying be careful with any Vette.

There is one ZO6 that I haven't beet, he is allways in the 11's that guy knows how to drive. I have given him a few real close races, usullay only slower by a 10th or so. It will be interesting this spring when I show up with new cams, heat exchanger and the KB Blower. I think he will be in for quite a shock.
The other ZO6's at the track are no compitition, running mid 12's.
All my 11 second runs were made in the heat of the summer, in fact my 11.92 was done at over 95 degrees at FFW. I never got to run it when it was cool due to other comitments. Now that I have time to run, the track is closed and my truck is at the shop getting the roll bar and the mods listed above.

I'd like to hear what you run when the track opens (in Feb?)
